This is one toy that shouldn’t be given during the upcoming holiday season.
Walmart sells a slaughter truck toy, and now animal activists are petitioning the company to stop selling the item.
Yes, it might just be a toy, but what it represents is far from child’s play. “Normalizing the enslavement and murder of animals to kids is not OK,” states the online petition on Change.org.
The petition was started by a vegan activist in Toronto, who is asking supporters to ask C. Douglas Mcmillon, the CEO of Walmart, to stop selling toy slaughter trucks in Walmart stores.
So far the petition has garnered over 12,000 signatures of their 15,000 goal.
“As a trucker, seeing these in real life is no treat,” wrote Susan Schindler of New Jersey, one of the petition’s supporters. “The reality is violence. Do not support desensitization of children.”
Not surprisingly, some people disagree with the petition. “Why don’t you grow up? It’s just a damn toy,” wrote one.
However, with 11,500 stores worldwide, the company definitely has major clout with consumers. Walmart also has a checkered history when it comes to animal rights, which includes the torture of pigs at a Walmart pork supplier and a development that put rare animals at risk.
“A slaughter truck shouldn’t be endorsed as a toy,” wrote Brittany Sawyer of Virginia on the petition. “It isn’t fun, it isn’t neat, it isn’t something I would want my kids to enjoy playing with.”
We certainly agree, and we hope that Walmart soon will, too.

What about all the kids who want to be farmers?

Life is so good for people that they have to find reasons to be upset instead of enjoying it and carry on with their own business.
I doubt many kid knows what that trailer set up is for and I bet many adults don't know either.

Should go hang out at the intersection of I-55 and 190 to watch those chicken "slaughter trucks" pull into Sanderson Farms all day long.
I'm like "All those poor chickens have no idea what's about to happen... mmmmmmm chicken."

My kid had that truck a few years ago it is nothing new. I believe it broke within a few weeks as it isn't very well made.

That's not a slaughter truck.
Are you telling me there's a mobile slaughtering station for chickens that serves as a way to expedite farm to table?
NO.
This is a transport truck.
