Brah, don't blame Brown because the internets went apeshit.
The mob went after two people, were completely wrong, and are now doing anything but taking responsibility. Typical in today's world, no accountability.

So they're saying this dude killed two students at brown university, high tailed it to the professors house, offed him, then went to a storage facility and offed himself?
Posted on 12/18/25 at 9:18 pm to AllDayEveryDay
The schools are less than an hour apart. Storage unit about another hour north.
Time seems plausible.

What a fricked up situation.

Why did Brown wipe that guy from their site?

Yeah, I don't know about that. What was the motive?

Theyre saying he went to uni with the MIT guy back in Portugal...and they're both Portuguese so it could easily be some history there. MIT guy was 47 years old and this guy is 48. That one makes sense without any further explanation.
As for why he went to Brown and killed those students firing off a bunch of shots into a random study hall? You'll have to provide more evidence for me.
That one makes no sense at all. I dont see the connection whatsoever.

Liability?
Imagine your employee is getting harassed and some jackass goes vigilante justice. Better have done all you can to minimize your exposure.

I'm with you. Unless the MIT professor was seen as someone who could or did make contact after the initial attack and the shooter saw him as a threat. Or he shooter went to the prof thinking he would give him some shelter and when it didnt happen he killed him.
Again, trying to reason with the thoughts on a killing spree may be tough.

Don’t go talking sense in here.

Hadn't there already been one random guy that was announced as a suspect? The internet promptly dug into that dude's life history and commenced to doing what the internet does.
Then, this guy came along with the internet being certain it had the right guy. Given the history of innocent people being torn down by the collective, maybe Brown made the decision to take action to limit that.

For those who need the immigration background to make their decision....
quote:
#NEW: Shooter identified by police as 48-year-old Portuguese national Claudio Neves-Valente. Police chief says he was a former PhD student at Brown and went to the same school in Portugal as the MIT professor murdered in his home. Brown President says he was enrolled at Brown from Fall of 2000-Spring 2001. He was admitted to Brown’s graduate program in physics. He took a leave of absence in April 2001, before withdrawing in July 2003. Brown President says it’s safe to assume when he was a student, he spent a lot of time in the same building of the shooting for classes as a PhD physics student. Chief confirms he died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. He was found with a satchel and two firearms. A homeless person is being credited with cracking the case.
More on legal status: Neves Valente was born in Portugal and was a Legal Permanent Resident of the United States. Neves Valente arrived in the United States in August 2000 as an F-1 student at Brown University and subsequently obtained U.S. lawful permanent residency in April 2017

Why are you defending the school? They have been absolutely terrible throughout this entire process.
Want to talk about accountability? Why were the seven cameras in that building not functioning? How do you not have footage? (They so, they are lying to us.)
Why aren’t they answering questions like how many times Ella Cook was shot? Supposedly she was shot in the head 10x and the other students hit were just pass throughs. If true that means it was a targeted shooting and not a random shooting. That’s a question that could have been answered day one. Is there an answer yet?

You're right. It is the school who is at fault and not the guy who shot the place up.
They should be giving the public absolutely all the information they have and tell the cops running the investigation to go frick themselves. Slackjaws on Tigerdroppings need answers, they would have this case closed.

Never knew that. Fishing village kind of thing?
Same age and uni makes me think the killer knew the prof. Even if only because of some extended relation.
The Vegas address is also an outlier.

I'm about the same age. I'm at the point of life where I don't even want to get into an argument with my dentist office about my bill.

Yea I think the origins are from fishing and whaling. I renemmber visiting providence for the first time and thinking the Portuguese restaurants were completely random.
