What did he receive the LOM
A story he didn't tell, but it was awarded when he retired.
He had mad respect in the Army, my cousin joined and was a frick up, his DS served under my dad and tried to help him but he got the BCD, my dad was pissed, and rightfully so.

Story from my father in the Army.
He had some red cowboy boots, one night they went out and got drunk, the next morning at muster the platoon Sargent dismissed everyone except the one in the red cowboy boots.

Story from my father in the Army.
He got in trouble and the Sargent who always had a match stick in his mouth made him dig a six by six hole. When he was done and told the Sargent, he threw the match stick in the hole and told him to burry it. Once it was buried, the Sargent asked him which way the match head was pointing, and my father took a guess and said "north" the Sargent said "dig it up and find out."

My ASVAB score and he promise of money sent me to Whorlando, it wasn't for me and when I asked out they said NO, so I flunked the physics section twice to get out (flunk once and roll back twice and you are out.) They sent me to the Gulf on the LaSalle as a MM, but cross rated to DK on board. That was one old arse steam driven ship.

an observation and sadness, part of it is out of pride, and part of it is knowing that serving at a point in my life where I had no direction got me where I am today.
Fair enough.

23 years in Air National Guard, last couple years as an AGR. Don't have a ton of crazy stories, been lucky but to have been in not too many dangerous places. Just got home from Djibouti a couple of weeks ago though.

Active and former Military do not want your appreciation. We want you to quit living a hippie lifestyle and join the military.
Do your part you slackers.
