This was not my fight, so I’m playing Devil’s Advocate at this point.
But this seems no different than someone arguing the difference between murder and manslaughter.
You wouldn’t accuse that person of defending the killing of a human being.
In this case, you can say it was a stupid argument to make. I said the same thing.
But it’s not factually incorrect, and I don’t convey any moral judgments due to it.

I’m not even sure what the argument here is. Is the argument whether it’s different for an adult to sex a 16 yr old vs a toddler? Bc the age of consent in most of the western world including many US states is 16.

I agree with the argument that it's important to defend the importance of the actual definition of the word. There's a difference between a pre and post pubescent girl. Using the same term for both, dilutes the really problematic issue that is actually defined by "pedo". It's really just being lazy clumping up the 2.
I find it interesting how this board goes all "proud chest" when a 14yo boy hooks up with a teacher, but then goes all pitch fork "pedo" hunting in the reverse.
Also, not sure you know, but the Age of Consent in the majority of states is 16 and 17, and less are over 18.
You may not like it, but nature is telling us something when a girl hits puberty. In the eyes of God, in proper marriage, she's ready to give herself to her husband. His age does not matter.
