Ever been in an accident with an uninsured motorist, who was found at fault? Funny how are our system works. I'm out money for deductible and now rental car expenses. Them, lawyerd up and wanting thousands. Advice given to me, pay your accident related bills and just keep paying your car insurance bill.

It's happened to me twice.

We have the most uninsured motorists in the country, in Louisiana..gotta carry that UM insurance too, which is shitty.

Yes, this black girl hit me at a red light and didn't have insurance. So she sucked my bird and got me high and I let her slide

I mean if it happened in Louisiana, then the uninsured motorist shouldn't have a leg to stand on. Louisiana is a pay to play state I believe.

LINK

quote:

In an effort to change those numbers, and with it the costs of insurance coverage, Louisiana enacted the compulsory motor vehicle liability security laws in 1997. These laws are often referred to as No-pay, No-play because they penalize uninsured drivers and underinsured drivers, those drivers not insured with the minimum required coverage. Louisiana bars uninsured and underinsured drivers from collecting the first $15,000 of bodily injury damages and the first $25,000 of property damages. This means that even if the other driver is at fault, if you are uninsured, you’ll be covering medical costs up to $15,000 and car repairs up to $25,000.[1]

Exceptions to the Louisiana No-pay, No-play laws also exist. The laws do not apply to parked vehicles, at-fault parties driving while intoxicated, anyone who flees from the scene of an accident or is taking part in a felony at the time of the accident. The laws also do not apply to residents of other states or countries. If you are passing through Louisiana without insurance, you can still file a claim for damage caused by another driver. However, you could be cited for driving without insurance, which could result in a suspended license. If you have auto insurance and are passing through Louisiana, you may still file a claim, as long as you carried the minimum required coverage for your resident state or country. It should be noted that passengers in uninsured vehicles do not lose rights against other drivers that are at fault.

Insurance in this state is among the highest in the entire country and it absolutely annoys me.

We have no wrecks or tickets and the cheapeast liability ONLY for ONE CAR (ONE middle aged driver) with what the law requires bare minumum is still $100 a month!

That gets you full coverage is other states.. This state frustrates me so much at times, but I still appreciate being from Louisiana.

I can't ever imagine taking the risk of driving without liability. That's crazy.

The other party having insurance or not has nothing at all to do with who was at fault in the accident. My Honda Accord was totaled back in high school when an illegal immigrant ran a stop sign and T boned me, then fled the scene but was later caught and arrested. It was a total loss so they just cut the check, no deductible.

Happened to my wife's car earlier this year. We paid our deductible, and they put a lein or something on the uninsured girl's license (which was already under suspension) until they refunded the deductible. Haven't seen a dollar and don't really expect to.

Louisiana is a no pay no play state, even if you were in the wrong.

That's because you have stuff. The majority of the uninsured drivers in this state don't have anything to sue for.

Gets you more than full coverage here. I pay $100 monthly on my 2 year old vehicle and that gives me full coverage for me and my husband, with like a $250 deductible, rental car coverage and also includes my rental insurance policy on my house, and a separate policy on my wedding rings.

The driver had a suspended license. The passenger, whom the car belonged to was badly injured. She had no car insurance. The passenger in the back seat had minor injuries. I am aware of the don't pay, don't play law. The Insurance company is betting they have no leg to stand on as a result of this law. They were speeding, (estimated 50mph) in a 15mph zone. I find it beyond crappy that they can refuse insurance money and lawyerd up, to try and bilk people for more money. What crap.

Yeah I was gonna mention that I was surprised how cheap auto insurance is in AZ compared to LA because of all the illegals here.

I remember when I got hit last year the first thing I noticed was the driver was foreign and immediately worried he wasn't legal. Thankfully he was a us citizen with insurance.
