No, my point was that it didn't fricking happen. It was just a post on Reddit where some virgin was trying to sound like good will hunting. But videos like this cite it to get an emotional reaction.

I would have probably gone to jail at least 20 times.
A teacher/principal/vice principal could whip your arse, but that was about it. Good times in the 80's.

That's part of the problem. Teachers call home today and the parents believe their kids over the teachers or "their kid would never do that".
My first year of HS a teacher called my house because I was acting up. It was the first time a teacher called home because of something I did. Of course I had my side of the story & mom told me "dont waste your time. I dont care if you didn't do everything a teacher accuses you of, you still did something that made it worth the teacher's time to call home". On time my brother got in trouble in PE & the coach called home to ask if it was okay if he gives him the paddle. After that, the beginning of every school year from then on out she would remind the principal that they had her permission to "give us the paddle" if needed. That makes you think twice before "getting into trouble".

I had the cops call me out from class one day because they had the drug dog in the parking lot and were checking out cars. When I got out there, they asked me why I had three shotguns in my passenger seat and an ice chest half full of beer in the bed. I told them we went hunting that morning and I just didn't take everything out because I was running late. They just told me not to bring that stuff to school again

I went to a very rural HS (class B) in LA from 1998 - 2002 and I would have been expelled if I had a shotgun in my truck while parked on school property.
If it wasn't allowed at my HS, in no way was it "completely normal"

I remember rumors would pop up every once in awhile that a certain teacher and a kid (seems like it was always an athlete) had relations. Most of the time it was assumed it was a lie/rumor. A student told his friends he screwed the hot young teacher.."yeah right, I bet he did. He means he thought about it when he jerked off". Maybe there were times when it was true.
With that said, I do think that today, teachers have to relate better to the students & with that comes having things in common. That creates a more parallel relationship & attraction takes over.

This crap is annoying. I graduated in 97. Schools were made gun free zones in 1990. While apparently it wasn't always followed it was made a mandatory one year expulsion for bringing a gun on campus in 1994
Also, I was in elementary in the 80s and parents had to sign a form at the beginning of the school year allowing corporal punishment to be administered by the administration. And it rarely happened
So I don't think either of these are good examples for schools being better 20 years ago

In my free enterprise class in '95 we had to create a product and corresponding commercial. One group made a 'gay-away' spray that would keep the gays from raping you. It was hilarious and they got an A.

Same here. It was like that 10 years ago for me.
Really? Most schools across the country went to a zero-tolerance policy on guns after Columbine, and that occurred in 1999.

Graduated thirty years ago and just about everything unacceptable today in school was acceptable back then. My son is seventeen and I just shake my head at some of the policies in his school today. They are taking the mirrors out of the bathrooms so students can't check themselves out and therefore make the more unattractive students uncomfortable. I try to tell him that his generation is going to have some tough sledding when they get out into the world on their own. It was every man for himself when I was in school.

I think private schools are a bit more lenient. At Catholic High here in BR, it was fairly common during hunting season for someone to have an unloaded gun in his truck. Had to tell the office you had it and keep it in the open so they could make sure it was still there throughout the day.

This was at St Pauls in St Tammany parish. It was perfectly normal to haul arse to big branch NWR, knock out a limit of grey ducks and go to class with grey ducks and a Remington 1100 sitting on my back seat.

They let you keep the beer? I thought you had to be 21 in like 1992. I was grandfathered in.
