... No it isnt. its low because thats what happens when there is low pressure in the condensate line. It ices.
^^
Impossible to create ice without low Freon. After expansion valve, psi must be at or below freezing. If psi after expansion valve is 33psi or higher it simply cannot make ice. NOT cold enough. I don’t care how hard or soft the blower is blowing, how humid it is, etc.. none of that matters. It’s either cold enough to freeze or it isn’t.
You definitely need a new AC guy or he needs a new gauge.

Amen. Airflow is restricted somewhere.

How old is your unit?
How long has he been a AC man?

How cool are you trying to keep your space vs how hot it is outside? I'm no HVAC tech, but you may be asking too much of your unit.
Yeah, my AC guy told me that they are built to keep it about 20 degrees cooler than it is outside.

Seen that at my house a time or two. Some people think an air conditioner runs based on the temperature it is set at.
The problem with that reasoning is that it cools at a constant rate. Meaning either it is spitting out hot air when the heat is on and cold air when the air conditioner is on. Some newer units with variable speed compressors and fan motors are the exception. But with most units, if you set the air conditioner below a certain temperature in relation to the dew point, too much condensation will begin freeze on the coils even when the house gets warm. The ice forms an air dam preventing air from melting the ice. The only way to defrost the the ice block is by turning it off for an hour.

You are low on freon and you most probably have a leak.

Get a infrared thermometer from Harbor freight. The one that you can shoot and projects a dot that you can check the temperature of the air coming out of your registers versus what the temperature of the air going bck into the intake is.

I had a similar issue. Freon was good, filter was brand new. HVAC guys stumped.
Two things.
Are you using a high efficiency filter? Sometimes filters with high m ratings will restrict airflow and cause this time of icing. Use a low m rating filter and replace it frequently and see if that helps.
Maybe the unit is too big for the area it is cooling. This was my issue. I added a register in my garage and ran a duct that way. Once i did that it never iced again.

This unit only operates during daytime. Gets turned on around 6am. Iced by 8am. We shut it off to defrost. Turn back on around 9:30 and it runs fine the rest of the day. No icing. Rinse and repeat next day.
