Look up blend door actuator, blend door actuator motor. Sounds like either the actuator is stuck, the motor is bad, or the wiring between the two and the temperature control is bad.

I switch it up and ya not a big deal to me.
But if they have the Mitchum advanced clear gel, I'm grabbing it up.... I'm no doubt a Mitchum Man

Could be thermostat wiring.

I should add that it's been serviced several times in the last year. I have new evaporator coils, a new thermostat, coolant level checked, and a hard starter(not sure if that's the right name - was installed to remedy the contactors repeatedly welding themselves together). Filter is fresh too.

We have fleet Chevy's that do this. I think the fix was a relay or switch.

Try pulling the cover off your thermostat and holding down the reset button (it'll be on the circuit board, and generally labeled "Reset". Not a bad idea to change the t-stat batteries st the same time.

What kind of thermostat do you have? If you have single stage system, check to make sure that your thermostat is setup and wired correctly for a single stage system and not a two stage system and vice versa.
Other things you can check.
When you turn it on and it is blowing hot, check the outside unit and see if the fan is running / the compressor is running, if not check the low voltage wires at the contactor outside and see if there is 24V AC present. If so check to see if the contactor is pulled in, you may have another bad contactor or contacts within it. Hard start will only work for so long, too. The compressor may be shot.
