I just got mine in today. SO ordered it for me after I lost my Flex in the river at work. The reason I lost the Flex was because of the push clasp that keeps it on and the Alta has the same thing (though it appears slightly more sturdy) so we'll see how that works out.
I like the digital display and you can customize what shows up when you tap it and in what order it shows up. Also you can set the Alta to vibrate and notify you when you have a text or call and your phone is not with you. It'll read who sent the message as well as what the message says.
The best feature to me is that when you raise your wrist to check it, it will automatically show the display.
I'm impressed, but this is coming from someone who only had the Flex prior so there's that.

Fatbit is a 2oz wrist weight, not really effective.

Garmin 920xt isn't too shabby. Tons of running metrics, bike capabilities, and will even count your laps in a pool. Has the daily activity tracker as well. The only thing it lacks is the HR monitor. You have to wear an external one (which are considered more accurate). I only monitor my heart rate when I'm actually exercising, so it works for me.
The fenix and vivo active look better and do a lot of the same (some even have an optical HR monitor), but fall short on some of the details that someone seriously into swimming or cycling might care about. But for the average person, they are awesome.

Considering Fitbit is in class action lawsuit over heart rate monitor capabilities, that's a good thing.

I'm in between the Polar m400 and the Garmin 220 or 225. I think the 920xt does a little more than I need, I dont swim or bike enough to need that.

I don't have the 920xt, but have the 910xt (the older model with a few less bells and whistles). It is unbelievable the options available on these watches. I am training for triathlons, so the watch is definitely geared toward that. I can see why it might not be useful for everyone.
