LA has pretty strong pro 2ndA /self defense laws as well. I posted this is the "have you ever pulled a gun on someone" thread the other day. I pulled a gun on a guy trying to break into my shed in LP. He was in my backyard and I didn't feel immediately threatened. I had a gun on him and he was shaking like a leaf. Change that scenario to him being in my hall at 2am and I probably would have shot him.

Bottom line, if you are a gun owner, you have to know the laws where you live. If you live in Vermont, then you should hide if there is an intruder. In Texas, fire away.
One could make quite the living in Vermont as a home intruder if one were so inclined.
What are the chances of encountering a Jason Bourne type?
Probably close to zero given the recent emergence of the sissy mentality as evidenced by the pansies in this thread . They cannot compartmentalize celebrating death and being content for a home owner protecting his life and the life of his family.

quote:Yeah what was seeing is that the laws can be tricky when it comes to being on your property vs being in your house. An intruder being on your property, in some states, isn't viewed as an imminent threat(probably different if they are brandishing a weapon), whereas once the intruder steps foot inside your home, they are considered an imminent threat. I saw one case where this couple already robbed this man at least once before and this next time he shot and killed the woman as she (was pregnant too) was leaving the property. He wasn't charged.
I’m no expert, but if they are fleeing, and if they are outside of your home, and if you shoot them anyway, then some states will charge you with manslaughter at the least.
Hopefully the judges/jury will side more often than not on the citizens defending their property/self/family rather than the criminals.

I don’t see why you would get that excited over someone getting killed
Because the homeowner may have saved the life of a family member or a future victim. If he was arrested that crazy judge would probably have let him out by now.

It's extremely easy to make the logical assumption that the higher the rate home intruders are killed, the less criminals are willing to risk invading homes.

Easy target with that long name.

Anyone think these would deter break ins?
Or would idiots target your house to steal your weapons?

How about this: what if you think the homeowner had every right to defend his home, and you think it is trashy to still celebrate a death?
That’s pretty much what I was getting at. Homeowner did what he should’ve done, but you don’t see me doing dancing bananas like a frickin retard because there was a home invasion in which someone was killed

Not much culcha in that name. Wonder what the story was

I believe people are pleased to learn the victim used self protection measures and living.
