re: A Third Of America's 18-34 Years Olds Live With Their Parents

I couldn't have moved in with my mom after school. I love her and all, but we would have fought more than I could imagine. I luckily had some money saved up because I didn't find a job for 5 months after I graduated (2011 grad school and was 23). That was 3 years ago. Since that time, I had saved enough and bought my house about a year ago (july 2013).
I haven't lived at home since I got to college, which was when I was 19.

I'm in a similiar boat.
Money that would have gone to rent goes to student loan principle and the down payment fund.
And my mom's house is ballin and she's cool as shite so it worked out ever better

This whole thing is sad...
I was married at 22... Graduated at 22... Big boy job... Bought a new truck and built a house all before 24... Now have a daughter at 26...
Time for people to grow up

Congratulations I guess. Unfortunately for other people things happen and it's harder to find a job.

Do you help pay for other expenses? Groceries, etc?

People have their entire lives to grow up. Many would say you grew up too quickly. Do you live in a town of under 10k? Seems like a small town attitude you have.

I certainly didn't say a bad thing about anyone else living at home... I just couldn't. I completely understand that it can be a very good thing. I had a girlfriend do similar and go live with her mother to save and it was fine. They got along very well.
I wouldn't even think of talking "down" to someone or anything because they lived with their parents. After my father died my Sr year of college, my mother and I were never able to handle each other for extended periods of time. I love to spend a day with her or an afternoon, but I just couldn't see myself living with her.

Smart move, why not stay a little bit and save money?

How you holding up? Having this was a real nightmare of mine, but I got another diagnosis.
I was going strong for 3 years no flare up and was at a good weight. Then this past December my insurance decided they didn't wanna carry my medicine any more so it was a fight every month with them so my medicine would be late every month.
So from December to Mid May, I lost 50lbs and became anemic. Had a colonoscopy a couple weeks ago, he found ulcers and some intestinal bleeding. He put me on a steroid and I started Humira and have gained 20 pounds in 2 weeks. Went from 155 to 175.

What percentage of people go to college?
I'm not sure. I know it isn't 100 percent, but I also know that it's large enough to skew the data in this study.

It doesn't sound very awesome to me
I was married at 25, but I haven't bought a house yet, and kids aren't in the immediate future. (I'm 26 and have had a "big boy job" since I was 22)

Well at least you help out with that.
In your situation....if you have wealthy parents.....consider yourself lucky

I live in Baton Rouge...
And who cares what kind of attitude it is? Why look at someone as being small minded for wanting to be successful?
When I got married the whole partying thing and working all week just to find the weekend got really old.
So while most people my age are bumming $30 for gas money to go out on a Friday night. I'm kicking back
