Please see my comment above. There's a positive way to criticize, and there's a negative way. Our goal should be - at least in my mind - doing our best to stay positive, whatever the situation. That in no way means being weak or being a pushover. I think of it like this: do I want to help alleviate a situation or make it worse? And please never forget that our actions affect ourselves as well as others.

Enabling bad behavior is not a good thing

You're free to do with your money as you wish. I this isn't a pissing contest regarding who's more generous. I am extremely generous with my blessings that I've been given. It's this specific poster that's the issue, and you and others have a soft spot in your heart because he's the lovable loser. There's nothing wrong with that, there's also nothing wrong with posters calling him particularly for what he is.
As I said before, I think what you did is admirable, it just doesn't solve anything

So…how is the daughter ungrateful? She was paying his rent, no?

Not sure, she was paying rent and he was handling "everything else".
I think coming on here and calling out your daughter is unnecessary. His intent in doing so is pretty clear.

Not necessarily. For example it is never a good thing to give a drug addict cash money. Period. No exceptions. It's more than just enabling. If you know that they are in active drug addiction you could potentially be pushing them to an early grave by giving them cash. You want to pay their rent, fine. You want to buy them clothes, fine. You want to buy them cigarettes or put fuel in their vehicle, fine. But never ever under any circumstance give a drug addict cash money. It is not a good thing. It's literally the worst thing you can do This is why I generally don't give money to panhandlers.
