3+ pages because someone will inevitably come in and brag about how they don't let people in who "try to jump the line" by zipper merging

Here’s your reminder that the conjunction of the words “you” and “are” is you’re

Right Lane closed: 1 mile
Right lane closed: 1/2 mile
Right lane closed: 1000 feet
We approach the right lane closure, I am in the left, and have been for some time and I’m supposed to just let the people over who purposefully ignored the sign. frick all that.

It's not a race grampa. It doesn't matter if someone get's ahead of you. Don't get over so early if you don't want to let people over.

I’ve come to terms that in theory this works better but so few practice it, it’s pointless.

You're mad because you think they ignored the sign, but the reality is that you ignored the sign, merged too early, and are part of the reason for the extra backed up traffic.
My pet peeve lately is that it seems everyone forgot how to turn off their brights. Flash them and they still just leave them on like a jackass.

Everyone who champions this is an a-hole. Yea, you may be right in theory, but you’re just being an a-hole by passing everyone and cutting in at the last minute. Continue though.

Then there are those who speed up to block the merge so they can get 1 car ahead in heavy traffic.

These post, while technically correct, are always stupid. It assumes your average driver is both competent and rational, and most are neither. Socialism would work to if everyone "followed the rules". But were selfish creatures and we dont. Zipper is the way, but we'll never make it work on any consistent basis.

Yes, because you and those like you are the reason the right lane moves faster. If everyone would use the zipper merge correctly, both lanes should move at the same pace.
I bet you don't know how to use a roundabout correctly either.

There’s always an a-hole who wants to save a whopping .2 seconds on their trip by not letting you merge

I can assure you that 90% of the people that I see driving up to a few feet in front of the barrier before forcing their way over aren't thinking "well if I recall the zipper merge technique, this is the best way to handle this situation as efficiently as possible". Most of the time it's some billy bubba badass in an F850 that will drive on the shoulder if he has to because he can't be burdened for any wait at all, or it's a female minority who doesn't know how to drive for shite to begin with and is equally uninterested in being delayed any minute.
Most people in society these days are idiots. I mean look around you at any point while you're out in public. Dumbfricks everywhere. So I think you give WAY too much credit to people going breakneck like it's turn 4 at talledega until the very last possible millisecond before forcing their way into the left where all of us have been for a while since we saw the sign that said "LANE CLOSED AHEAD, MERGE LEFT"
