People really love to throw around how much anonymity TD allows them nowadays. Which is somewhat comical. Especially given what the OT was built on.

Victims as Role Models
I could write a dissertation on it.
Kids are seeing people like Colin Kap who fail miserably, blame someone else for their failure, then make millions being an America-hating victim.
You are looking up to the wrong people, but who can blame them when society makes them out to be heroes on the level of soldiers that liberated countries in WW2.

I see it as a combination the following:
- Self Affirmation - I need to feel good about myself, and I want others to see me as a good person.
- Belonging to a group - I belong to something bigger than myself, and I’m somebody of value within that group.
- Life Purpose - Living in my parents basement leaves me feeling worthless, so I desperately need to have something to give my life meaning and purpose.
You know what fixes all of that?
A CAREER and GOALS, both of which will get you out of the parents house, make you feel good about yourself, and you’ll have a sense of worth and purpose.
- Self Affirmation - I need to feel good about myself, and I want others to see me as a good person.
- Belonging to a group - I belong to something bigger than myself, and I’m somebody of value within that group.
- Life Purpose - Living in my parents basement leaves me feeling worthless, so I desperately need to have something to give my life meaning and purpose.
You know what fixes all of that?

It’s why Bubba Wallace doubled down after the FBI concluded that he wasn’t a target of a hate crime. Secretly, he enjoyed his victim status. It gave him an opportunity to stand strong. Being the target was activist street cred. He didn’t want to let that go. So he doubled down in a last-ditch effort to keep his street cred intact.

I said this years ago when the Occupy Wallstreet bullshite started. We have this generation of people that want to accomplish some kind of social change. That's great, but the problem is the vast majority of them are too stupid and too narrow minded to do so. Get your faces out of your fricking phones and maybe you can succeed, but for now your simply being told how to feel and behaving like children.

So you're arguing everyone with a career and goals doesn't need self-affirmation, belonging to a group, or life purpose anymore?
I have a whole lot of people with career and goals in counseling that tend to suggest that isn't the case.
