I go to India every other year or so and I do MSY-LHR-BLR. I woke up on the LHR-BLR after a few hours of napping and we were directly over Iran. I know we were ~40k feet but I had a bit of nervousness for that one.

I'm flying from Frankfurt to Mumbai the last week of January. If Google is right, this is the route.

I know that GE/CFM and the FAA ordered UT testing of in use blades to find potential cracked blades but I don't know if foreign airlines use this info in their maintenance programs

I've flown that route several times. The one time I remember looking at it they took an obvious detour around Iran.

Just looked up a recent track. Looks like the route we took.

Curious as to why so many Canadians on this flight.

There's a large Iranian population in Canada. A possibility they're returning to Canada after visiting their families for the holidays.

You mean Iran? That doesn’t show you crossing Iraq.

I did that from Istanbul to Saudi Arabia a few months ago. Weird feeling. It was interesting that Iraq is still flaring tons of natural gas while Saudi had very few flares.

In the late 90's I flew from Amsterdam to Dubai and KLM took us directly over Tehran. That was interesting too.

No this is just the “great circle distance” map, not our actual flight plan.

Another website mentioned the Canadians were likely Iranian born citizens of Canada. Iran doesn’t recognize dual citizenship. So doubt they were your stereotypical white Canadians.

That said, the fragmentation of the warhead on a SA-9/SA-13 would have the same effect

So my guess last night was close....looks like the seeker section from an SA-15 "gauntlet" used by the Tor launch system.

Bet Boeing is breathing a huge sign of relief
