Culturally, they have completely different expectations of themselves.

Worth sharing. 40% of African Americans think they should get no special favors. This board would make you believe their all looking for a handout.

Yep. Boomers ruined the economy for white millenials by voting for affirmative action. To get a job as a white millenial you basically have to have a phd and 5 years experience

My point is that people pick shitty candidates regardless of age. Acting like age is a factor is ridiclous. Rasing the age to vote won't do anything besides piss off a shite ton of people unless you think we should raise the age to serve too

I'll get down voted to hell for saying this but people are all in on diversity and shite, until it comes to sex. Men will always want to make the playing field as small as possible and use any advantage to do so

How did all those dark skin Indians become Dr's? Does hair straightness supersede skin-tint discrimination?

No that’s stupid. The same reason we shouldn’t allow 18 year olds to vote is the exact same reason we want them serving in the military.

Under your arguement, public schools are dead.

If the only thing keeping public schools alive is a tax on people who not only don't want to pay it, but don't even directly benefit from it, then maybe it isn't worth saving. At the very least they need to find a different way to fund it.

In its current state, I'd rank public schools at a half of a step up from the Hell that is the DMV. It is outdated, inefficient, and if it were to go the way of the dodo bird, I certainly wouldn't miss it. Would you?

Well, I'm a public school teacher, so yeah. I completely understand your point, though. The system is broken in many ways, but that's for another thread.

Give a bunch of 40-60 year-old college grads a Super GED. Every question imaginable that they should have learned throughout their life.

Only teach in schools what at least 33% got correct.

Ie 1st president 95% said George Washington....teach that.

17th President only 1% got Andrew Johnson

There should NEVER be a question or required teaching about Andrew Johnson in public school.

Teach only what the average person retains

60% thinking they "deserve" handouts is a significant percentage. The majority of the second biggest ethnicity in the country believe the government owes them something. That's a huge red flag to me, although I get what you're saying.

Young people vote at the lowest rates as well by a wide margin. Raising the age does essentially nothing, imo

Not really the best way to go.

Most people don't remember much physics or chemistry, but we don't want our engineers and chemists waiting until college to see those subjects for the first time.

Well, I'm a public school teacher,

My condolences. I taught a semester of Chemistry at DSHS after the flood last year, and now I have a new found appreciation for working with adults. I'm not sure how you do what you do, but thanks for doing it.

Bad idea. If you do that, people will still only retain part of it. Which will be even less than what is currently retained.
