If it weren't for the tech industry San Jose would still be fruit orchards and a flea market like it was before the tech industry.

but it will reduce crime because you don't have as much street activity with gangs killing each other over territory.

The crime rates in states that have legalized MJ show this is not true.

Poor troll attempt

Only a simpleton would continue to attack the messenger when they have no counter to the argument presented.

I didn't realize legalizing marijuana got heroin, crack and meth off the streets.. You know.. The addictive shite that keeps addicts coming back and is more profitable than marijuana.

Most of the big cities in the south that are shitty are Democrat shitholes without the benefit of San Jose’s tech industry.

Chris, you really are a simpleton. Everywhere that legalization exists, the black market is still thriving. Want to know why? It's cheaper than paying for a product that has a ton of fees and taxes attached to it just to bring it to market.

Anyone thinking that legalizing drugs would reduce crime is naive at best. It would just do the same as with MJ and that is the criminals will sell it cheaper than the legal shops.

There are also good arguments that it may also make crime worse as now those cartels and gangs are even more competitive for market share.

It turns out that legalization of marijuana doesn’t eliminate the illicit black market, but may actually increase competition among rival factions of black-market dealers. State regulation, taxes, cultivation, and supply chain logistics force prices much higher for legal pot than its illegal and unregulated competition. The illegal market persists because most users aren’t inclined to pay premium prices just to avoid committing a very low-level transgression that police are increasingly being asked to ignore.

Man, your well-thought-out and put-together counterpoints totally changed my mind and now I agree.

There are tons of other articles and research supporting what that one said.

There are also plenty of articles and counterarguments that drug safe rooms are not as effective as we are being told they are and in fact do create a market around them which also leads to higher crimes.

There is something to be said about vice “districts” though.

If there is gonna be crime, corral it and control it.

It would almost be better to have One gang come in, a professional, business style gang, then have them do violence to all the small time petty warring gangs,

Then, when the riff raff is out the way, keep the peace. Pay the bribes. Keep the shite out of nice areas.

If you’ve got to have crime, better it be organized.

It's the same type of thinking that making gambling legal will put the bookies out of business. Local legal gambling helps them. Loan sharks and bookies are foaming at the mouth when gambling becomes legalized in their area.

Can't we just give them a state. Say like Rhode Island?
