This happened to me about 10 years ago with a state trooper. I insisted on doing a breathalyzer and he wouldn't let me. Said I needed to call someone to come move my truck because he was taking me in for DWI. I called his superior who just so happened to be a family friend.
I was lucky that I knew him because I was stone cold sober.

That young man didn't deserve this. I wouldn't call that "fumbling" for his registration. He was calmly looking for it.
My eyes were almost always bloodshot as a teen. Allergies, lack of sleep, and sensitive to fragrances. Never did drugs or drank.
They should not have harassed him to that level. I think the problem is the kid finally had enough and called the officer a dumbass. Not saying it's arrest worthy, but only time I ever got arrested was as a teen and I said "you arse" as an officer walked away after harassing me thinking I was also on something. Again, I never did drugs or even drank. The officer immediately turned around and arrested me. When they took me to the station they got most of my belongings before taking me to another room and emptying my pockets which had $40. They said, "thank you." And I never got my $40 back. They took advantage of me. I still don't hate cops over it, but there are definitely bad and incompetent ones.

The worst part was the cop in the background in the beginning is the supervisor who let this charade play out. Turds.

Passes a field sobriety test with flying colors in the cold and rain, blows 0.00 on the breathalyzer, gets arrested for allegedly smoking the devil's lettuce. That fat frick of a cop is a buffoon.

I can't figure out why some of them are so eager to try and ruin people over nothing.
fat, dumb, broke, and probably has little to no other options.

As they were discharging me and I was leaving the station, if that were me I honestly would’ve said something like - “I hope your union can provide you with a great lawyer or you personally can get one, because you will be hearing from mine and my family’s.”

It is why I do everything to avoid any contact with a police officer.

I don’t think I’d have been that relaxed with it all like the kid was unless I was on something.

This article is terribly written, but the premise is horrifying.

quote:
Katelyn Ebner crossed the center line, and got pulled over on the way home from work. She works in a bar, and does not drink while at work.
quote:
No, she had not been drinking. All tests for alcohol came up empty. But the Cobb County police officer who pulled her over was not done yet.
Officer Carroll: "I'm going to ask you a question, okay? When was the last time you smoked marijuana?"
Katelyn Ebner: "Oh, I don't do that. I can give you a drug test right now."
Officer Carroll: "You don't smoke marijuana?"
Katelyn Ebner: "I do not, no."
Officer Carroll: "Okay. Well, you're showing me indicators that you have been smoking marijuana, okay?"
Officer Carroll: "Watch your wrists for me, I don't want to pinch you."
Katelyn Ebner: "I'm going to jail for marijuana?"
Officer Carroll: "No, ma'am -- not possession, unless I find any in your car. I believe you're impaired by the marijuana you've smoked."
Katelyn Ebner: "Okay, so when I do a drug test, I'll be free to go, correct?"
Officer Carroll: "You're going to jail, ma'am. Okay? I don't have a magical drug test that I can give you right now."
The waitress spent the night in jail, had her alcohol server's permit revoked because of the arrest. After four months, prosecutors dismissed all her charges -- because the blood test came back completely clean.
"You had to spend months -- and thousands of dollars -- proving your innocence," Keefe said.
"I did," Ebner said.
quote:
Katelyn Ebner filed an Internal Affairs complaint against Officer Carroll. Cobb County Investigators exonerated the officer and doubted Ebner's innocence, insisting, 'the marijuana could have already metabolized out of the blood.'
"When you brought up that you had a clean blood test when complaining to Internal Affairs, their answer was what?" Keefe asked.
"They said, 'Yeah, we see this happen all the time. Um, the test results come back wrong all the time,'" she said.
"So the test results were wrong?" Keefe asked.
"Yeah, that's what they said," Ebner replied. "The test results were wrong, and also, if I had a urine test, it would have come back positive for drugs."
But Katelyn got her own urine test the same week as her arrest -- scanning for any metabolites that would still be in her system.
The urine test was also negative for marijuana -- or other drugs.
quote:
Commanders would not let Officer Carroll talk with us, but they stand behind the arrests. The department doubled-down on their assertion that the drug recognition expert is better at detecting marijuana in a driver than scientific tests. Cobb County says the GBI Crime Lab reports negative when even trace amounts are detected.

my furry old arse! my only issue with the kid in the OP is he talked too much and provided way too much information.
Never pass up the opportunity to keep your mouth shut.

I got pulled over when I was dodging potholes in NOLA one time and the cop kept insisting I was drunk. It took a few min. for him to figure out he was wrong, I guess he wasn`t as hard headed as this cop.

I watched it all. That was sad. And I am a big police supporter. Most of the times they get it right. This showed plainly that this guy shouldn't be policing on patrol. The other guy should have stepped in. That proves it was double as bad as I suspected.
