What made the Indians the rightful owners of the land?

AGREE... No one is here long enough to OWN the land. We simply occupy it. If a stronger occupier comes along they become the new occupier. Been happening for thousands of years, nothing new.

Funny thing is the stronger occupier now comes in the form of money/wealth a lot of the time. Property values and taxes are raised to the point where people can't afford it and they have no choice but to sell. No one "owns" shite.

I’m still waiting on the answer to his original question. Why are the Indians the rightful owners?

Sorry. I understand I am dealing with a modern-day taught, undereducated, uncomprehending prepubescent.

And I see you have a few companions from your scout troop in the thread.

Indians were sitting on a treasure trove of natural resources for centuries and had no clue how to utilize them.

The truth is, the 5 civilized tribes that were relocated to Oklahoma are way better off than the Western tribes that ended up on reservations. I live in Choctaw Nation and the Choctaws are all happy and I don't know one pining to move to their original home of Alabama and Mississippi.

Exactly right. They chose the British during the revolution. To be the country we are they had to be defeated. The British are the lib Dims in my comparison. The Indians and the settlers are the general population

The Indians “rightfully” owned the land in the same way you “rightfully” own your space at the trailer park. Because some government entity says you own it

The government says that the Indians don’t own the land, so they can’t be the rightful owners. What are you talking about?

The only primates that actually morphed into a human on their land is central African's. Everyone else either walked or rode to their house.

You’re an idiot. Since you love facts and all I thought I’d share that one with you. You don’t know what you’re talking about. You confuse western tribes with the Cherokee.

Violent Indian tribes were slow learners. Jackson cured that problem.

What we now recognize as the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians were one of the wealthiest groups in America at the time of removal. They were represented at all levels of government and society. They weren’t this primitive band of outlaws raiding white settlements like you’re pretending they were.

I am saying the Cherokee lost the rightful owner status by refusing to recognize that the government had an agenda without a place for them. A few greedy cowards sold them out.

I guess the Indians were not well armed.

I have read a bit on actual conflicts of the time. Believe it or not, bow and arrows could have beat the firearms of that period. Guns were large, hard to load and very inaccurate. We have romanticized Indians, but the reality is they were barbaric and extremely tribal. They hated each other. Europeans were just more organized.

Elias Boudinot in particular sold out the Cherokee, publishing pro federal government lies written in syllabary in the Cherokee Phoenix. He had been promised wealth and land in exchange for helping to remove the Cherokee.

Jackson? You mean the guy who founded the modern Democratic party because he didn't like the outcome a presidential election?

I agree we should not disarm and trust the federal government.
