Man, that’s a crock of shite. I’m all in favor of what the settlers did to the injuns, but it was savagery motivated by naked greed. In short, it was just what the savages did to each other.

yep

I hate this line of reasoning. People have been conquering each other for literally forever. White people were just better at it

I mean. If they originally told them were the rightful owners then they changed their mind, that is kinda shitty.

Since you know, can you tell us who was the right owner back then?

You’re an idiot. Since you love facts and all I thought I’d share that one with you. You don’t know what you’re talking about. You confuse western tribes with the Cherokee.
First off, you can be a disrespectful arse behind that keyboard and get away with it, little man. Everybody here is impressed with your Internet toughness.

So, you are saying the Eastern tribes did not attack Whites? They didn't rape, murder, and carry off hostages? You might want to get an actual education before calling someone else an idiot. You are obviously too stupid to converse with for very long.

quote:

What we now recognize as the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians were one of the wealthiest groups in America at the time of removal. They were represented at all levels of government and society. They weren’t this primitive band of outlaws raiding white settlements like you’re pretending they were.

For the most part, but not all. Try again.

My wife is EBCI. Her father is a former council member and her sister was the first to translate the newspapers of the time written in syllabary because she is one of only a dozen or so fluent speakers left. There is no one on this board more educated in Cherokee history than me. This isn’t up for debate.

You’re wrong. We are talking about the events leading up to the removal and the trail of tears. You are jumping from tribe to tribe and time period to time period to justify your argument because you don’t have even the slightest understanding about what actually took place and who the Cherokee were at the time.

It is you that needs an education.

You tell your wife and FIL if they are claiming the Cherokees did not stage raids on Whites. They are damned liars or are writing a novel. Not actual history.

Yes, I understand what took place. My grandmother probably had more Cherokee in her than your wife.

LOL. The classic my grandmother was a Cherokee princess line. Elizabeth Warren uses that line. If your grandmother had more Cherokee in her, she’d be on the Baker Roll and an enrolled member. So would you be. Neither of you are.

They aren’t claiming that. The Cherokee entered into several conflicts with white settlers and the federal government, almost all of which occurred decades to a century before the events that lead to the removal. To pretend as if the federal government and white settlers were without provocation or fault is the lie.

No, not a Cherokee Princess. Neither is your wife SIL or FIL. I doubt they have 12.5% actual Cherokee lineage

They got their asses kicked. The victors male the rules.

They can gloss over and glorify the Cherokee history all they want. We call it revisionist history. It does not change the actual facts.

It much much worse than you stated. Jackson was a friend of my family’s and most of the frontier families due to war of 1812, (we lived in territories back then as didn’t like politics etc, and many left after whiskey rebellion and all the taxes etc,)

If you were a frontier family you had indian friends, you had too to survive. According to family lore both Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett were allies, i can only confirm Crockett. Davey and my ancestors were close friends of the Cherokees, and both families had some Cherokee blood even at this time. Cherokee’s were widely hated by most of other local tribes as they had a written language, were much paler in appearance etc, just different. So they quickly became allies of settling families as they needed allies and we needed everything. Hence, the Creek Confederation became the enemies of the settlers because we were friends of the cherokee’s.

Tecumseh, (also a distance relative per ancestry incredibly as was born to Cherokee allie’s but captured and raised by creeks ) and his brother who was a serious medicine man realized the white excursion as threat to all native americans and declared war on us all and were in the process of uniting all the tribes against us. (He was very good speaker etc.) Of course, we was completely correct.

Jackson came to his old 1812 friends and ask for help. We got the cherokee tribes to help and as a result crushed the creek confederation. The Cherokee’s were promised they could keep their lands etc. There were multiple treaties etc.

Then the pos jackson completely went nuts, after gold was discovered in Georgia “there be gold in them there hills” was from this and totally ducked the Cherokee’s and did the indian removal act etc. Davey gets beat in his re-election bud because he says this is bullshite then says frick u pricks to his constituents “i am going to Texas” and dies in the alamo with Bowie.

We (some frontier families) manage to hide some cherokee’s out in few remote mountain villages under name Smith. (Light skinned couldn’t tell. ) Weren’t discovered until 1940s or something.
We also married some of chiefs daughters so they didn’t have go on trial of tears. 2 of my great great grandmothers.

We fricked over the indian allie’s who enabled us to settle states like Georgia, North Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky, parts Arkansas etc.

It was their land as they had it first and was granted to them via treaty which the USSC has consistently said trumps everything in US law even the Constitution, in exchange for their help and support of USA.

you can google any of that . when i was young there were whole episodes in Disney Daniel Boone over many of these exact issues.

You have never performed a blood quantum test. If you had, you would be enrolled members entitled to all of the benefits. Quit lying in an attempt to give your worthless arguments more validity. For the record, my wife and her siblings have over 17% and that’s with a white mother. Our children are also fully enrolled and not first descendants.

You really don’t know what you’re talking about. Treaties were signed and ignored or broken by the federal government. If anything, the Cherokee won in the end. How do you think we ended up with the EBCI? They’re descendants of those who stayed, fought, and ultimately purchased huge land grants from the federal government. They’re the only tribe in America that is technically sovereign. You’re the one attempting to re-write history by downplaying the actions of the federal government to claim some victory

I told you my grandmother had more Cherokee in her than Running Dumbass and White Feather that you're basing your argument on.

17%. "My daddy in law damn near took scalps."

Go to the Robbinsville, NC area and talk that 17% crap. Real Cherokees, 100% ones, will tell your wife 'STFU, White woman and go home." They are still about 5% of the population there.

You said 12.5%. 17% is a higher blood quantum level you stupid motherfricker. If your grandmother was anywhere close to 12.5% she would be enrolled and so would you. You’re just another in a long line of jealous clowns.

I live in fricking Bryson City you dumb bitch. My FIL was elected to council many times out of the Snowbird community. There isn’t a single 100% native person alive today you lying POS. No one says anything like that to my wife or her family. Her entire family is highly involved with tribal government and the management of tribal assets.

You don’t have a fricking clue about what you’re talking about despite that one time you visited the area

Now STFU you little dick pussy and go role play somewhere else.

I said I'll bet your wife and FIL didn't have 12.5%. Learn to read.

My grandmother was a full 25%. Her grandmother was a full-blooded, 100% Cherokee. My grandmother did not run around screaming she was a Cherokee.

The Cherokees and other tribes will take anyone with the proverbial drop of Cherokee blood. Why? It builds their numbers. Strength in numbers.

17% My God, I have almost as much as your wife.

What a punk you must be in real life.

I know a few who would slap your head over that statement, little man. Especially some Navaho friends I have.

You are correct though. There are no natives. NONE! Never has been. They are Siberian immigrants. The American Continents have no native or indigenous people. Who says that? Science. So put away your tomahawk, Sequoia.
