EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — Here at the F-35 integrated test force, pilots spend their days simulating real missions to prepare the jets to one day operate on the battlefield.
Defense News got a glimpse into the day-to-day life of an F-35 test pilot during a May 4 visit to Edwards Air Force Base. We followed Maj. Raven LeClair, assistant director of operations for the 461st flight test squadron, as he zipped up his flight suit, climbed into the cockpit, taxied to the runway and finally took off into the clear, desert sky.

It's funny (well, not really) that when the F35 software has problems they just ... reboot.

There's no way he doesn't get paid to start threads.

I wonder why the air force and the government decided to create this POS jet when they have one of the most, if not the most, highly sophisticated jets known to man in the F-22 all ready operational and working properly.
Feel like if they just took the budget remaining on the F-35 and put it into more F-22s they would be doing themselves a favor and building a jet that we already know works.

The F-35 is supposed to be 3Xs cheaper than the F22
All new military projects undergo development issues. Look at the Osprey as a prime example of what was once considered a boondoggle that evolved into an effective platform.

The V-22 is a revolutionary aircraft that has brought an entirely new capability to the battlefield. The F35 is just another jet that isn't even as good as the aircraft it's replacing.

More Arleigh Burkes, less F35s

LoL. Have you talked to anyone that actually had to ride in one of those? It was "supposed" to get Special Operations to the battlefield faster. But... It is so damn loud that they are now having to offset KM's from the target thus forcing the soldiers to hike in and expose themselves on the ground. The guys I have talked to hate the platform. I appreciate the concept but I think the execution was lacking.
