Find a guy who does side jobs, 1/2 the price of any company that does advertising

go to acwholesalers.com - I bought two rheem 16 seer 5 ton units from them (outside only) for 4,150. Had two techs who work for a big a/c outfit in NOLA - install both for $2,000 - on their weekend off.

I paid 4,800 for a Rheem 3 ton 16 seer this time last year with all new copper lines and some duct work. Sucked biting the bullet but the drop in energy bill and over better performance, I am happy. Plus with a new unit, you want have to sell a kidney to replace R-22 refrigerant

it averages between $1500-$2000 a ton right now depending on the type/brand of system for a complete, ductwork and all replacement.
if your ductwork is over 10 years old go ahead and replace it as well, its not much more added expense (maybe $400-$500) and its often full of dust and allergens and mice can eat holes in that shite and often do, and you never even realize it by just looking at it.

Yep, whole system, not duct work

I got a Train total replacement from butcher in Lafayette. It was 9100. That was with a bunch of duct work as well. I couldn’t be happier with the work and service.

4 ton rheem, moved air intake, all new trunk (or whatever its called where the air ducts hook into), all new duct work, 6900. 10 year parts warranty and paid 100 or so bucks for an AIG policy that covers labor on broken parts for 10 years.

Supply plenum.
Make sure your contractor registered your unit with Rheem otherwise you don't get 10 years. You can check online.

Double or single wide and size of window is needed to calculate.

Unless you plan to change the indoor coils (or air handler if it's not a gas system), then you might as well have bought 14 SEER condensers. Your system is only rated at 16 SEER when properly matched with the indoor section. Give me the model of your outdoor units (probably RA1660AJ) and your indoor coils (or air handlers.) I'll tell you what you're really getting out of your system if it's properly installed.
FYI, ratings are based on matched condenser and coil or matched condenser, coil and gas furnace or matched condenser and air handler. SEER is not based on condenser only....ever.

Go to Ebay and look it up. I purchased a unit in December. Rheem 4 ton for about 2 grand. Local guy installed the inside and outside unit for about $1580 if I remember. I was able to use the existing copper and duct work.
The guy even sent in my warranty papers for me.
My original Rheem lasted 22 years with only inside evaporator replaced in that time.

Go with either Trane/American Standard or Rheem

They have knowingly used faulty evaporator coils.
The areas that the differing metals meet has given them leaking issues.
Goodman and Amana are both owned by the Japanese conglomerate Daiken.

+1 on staying a way from Lennox.
Kind of crazy to hear. I had to finally replace a Lennox unit that was 25 years old 2 summers ago. I went with a Trane b/c the Lennox quote was higher. looks like I made out OK. Yay me.
