so instead of working with those energy companies and encouraging them to do their part to curb CO2 emissions (which they are doing anyway, on their own), the solution is just to end O&G via regulation causing energy costs to skyrocket to consumers? (sarcasm)
brilliant plan!

you guys are probably right that better tech will find some oil out there. But, not enough to run this planet in 50 years.
I disagree. Oil is becoming more and more abundant. Only regulation can kill it. And there are oceans of untapped natural gas. I know you specifically referred to oil, but natural gas would last us a hundred years easily.

I just traveled 450+ miles on I-10. Saw exactly one electric vehicle. All this bullshite EV craze is just to pacify the lefties. When Trump regains power in 2024, the carbon economy will
Prosper and all this global warming crap will be on the back burner again. Louisiana lives on the oil industry, and oil will still be the primary source of power for the next 100 years.

And to think a little over two years ago we had energy independence, the strongest economy since WWII, and stability on the foreign policy stage. Then we threw it all away because a bunch of anxiety riddled, feeble minded, idiots got upset over fricking mean tweets and a flood of leftist propaganda. We, as a country, deserve all the shite happening now. We’ve done it to ourselves
Abso-fricking-lutely this.

bullshite! No he didn't. Trump did not invent fracking and he did not invent directional drilling. Private Americans ended our dependence on foreign oil, and the trend was well under way long before Trump took over. In spite of Obama's hostility to oil and gas, the US production boomed under him.
You’re going to get heavily downvoted for this statement, but this isn’t wrong.
The trend of us having to import less oil started around ‘06, I believe. There’s a graph I’ve seen before, I’ll have to find it and link to it.
The US became a net exporter of oil in 2019, but then with the laying down of rigs and drop of prices in Q1 of 2020, we reverted back to a net importer during the Summer of 2020. Since that time, I think it’s kind of been back and forth, but again, I’d have to double check the data. Going off of memory here.
One of the big aids in us becoming a net exporter wasn’t only the fracking boom, it was the Energy Bill of 2015 that a Republican-led Congress passed and then-President Obama signed. It allowed domestic producers to export crude overseas. Prior to that, only refined products like gasoline and diesel could be sold overseas.

But how are you going to slow down the effects of climate change?

Many of the hardcore enviro-socialist groups HATE processes like carbon sequestration to offset emissions from oil & gas production, because they are simply against anything that can prolong the life of the O&G and petrochemical industries.
They voice their outrage by typing away on their iPhones and laptops, and continue taking medication and need their homes heated in the winter.

people are dumb enough to believe oil is going anywhere anytime soon…. i’d love them to explain how plastics, lubes, oil byproducts they use everyday are going to be made?
I think these people are more concerned about petroleum based energy compared to plastics, lunes, etc.
They would much rather cut oil used for energy 50% compared to any other use
