Medium.com
Tried searching to see if anyone already made a thread on this and couldn’t find anything. Figured it could be a good conversation for this board:
1) Cryonics
2) Personal Decision Makers
3) Artist AIs
4) Ultra Realistic Sex Robots
5) Nanites
6) Designer Babies
7) Immersive Reality and Brain-Computer Interfaces
8) Mind Upload
9) Artificial General Intelligence
Long article, but I think it’s worth the read. The nanites and AGI certainly frighten me the most in all this. What are some of y’all’s thoughts?

2001 Halle berry and the monster ball scene over and over again.

Have there been big recent advancements in cryonics to make it 1 on that list?

The end of homosexuality. Leftists aren't going to like that.

#6 is the only thing we are reasonably close to seeing and probably followed by #7.
AGI is something we think we are close to but in reality we know very very little about what its final phase will look like. The human brain and our intelligence operates within our entire bodily system - and we have a long way to go to figure out it works in concurrence with our senses and body.
Nobody seems to be talking about Designer Babies much and they should be because it isn't just saying "oh i don't want my child to be able to have syphilis" or whatever. Each one of those decisions has a genetic / evolutionary trade off and if we don't regulate it, figure out some worldwide regulations to protect people, it could be a very ugly outlook. Not to mention be an incredible way for a wealth / quality of life gap to skyrocket even more.

Mind Upload
There's a fundamental problem with this that some have pointed out.
Whatever is uploaded is always a copy. You, the original, will not be uploaded, and the upload won't know it's the copy.
Just think about how you copy filed on your computer as an example.
Makes for interesting conversation.

Cryonics is #1 on the list because it’s the one of least concern. Personally I think nanites should be at #8 since that’s likely the means in which AGI will kill us. Atomic bombs aren’t thorough enough to wipe us all out and A-bombs destroy materials that AGI could find useful. Imagine more the end of Infinity War if you want to know how that would end.

Deep fake tech combined with AGI directed by a totalitarian state
You would be able to trust no one

We’re already at #2 man. That began well over a decade ago.

1. Find out 100 years from now that the tech didn't work? Oops, doesn't matter, all your clients are dead!
2. Relatives want a refund for that ultra-expensive, shitty service? Oops, doesn't matter, all the people who ran the company are dead!
3. ???
4. Profit

I’m just posting what the article said... but it does have disturbing ramifications to the future of our species. Why go out and date and interact with other people when you have Halle Berry from Monster’s Ball waiting for you back at home? The nuances are important.

No one typing on this board will have to worry about any of this outside of maybe immersive reality....I know designer babies are kind of close too but I would hope our government would step in on that.

HBO did a series on this called Westworld.
It didn't end very well for the "guests".

Would #4 be needed after #7 got developed?

Ya that is true, I glossed over that one. But really, that is a simple fix if we can just get someone competent into power that has the smallest clue about what is going on.

Even if govt did step in it's going to happen in other countries. Hell it's happening in China now.
