This doesn't make sense. I'm assuming the male passenger was the father/husband. Why the hell wasn't he driving?

quote:

Police in Maine say a pregnant woman was driving to the hospital to give birth when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed. She died, and the baby is in critical condition.

quote:

A man and an 8-year-old girl in the vehicle were hospitalized. Their condition is unknown.

Sad as shite but

Police say the woman's SUV hit black ice, struck a snowbank and rolled over onto a frozen pond.

Might not have mattered which was driving. You'd have to assume the passenger always lives which isn't a good assumption.

My wife is due in 5 weeks and I have an 8 year old girl so this story reads particularly crazy to my imagination/empathy. However I'd never let my wife sit in the man(drivers) seat while I'm alive so this story is a work of fiction in my universe.

Husband could've been drunk.

My wife is pregnant and this could easily happen to us as I am routinely over the legal limit while I'm at my house

Yup. I had to sobre up to drive to the hospital when my wife went into labor at 6am on a sunday. The baby came 2 weeks early and we were out all night before

An uber driver would have one hell of a story if this happened to me.

I don't drive drunk. Period. Almost killed a buddy in college (Ed Osteen, the poster here).

i like to have my beers after work every night. I have had to skew it down lately just in case she goes into labor.

Have to take advantage of the built in DD while you can.

I would guess it isn't all that uncommon for a husband to be intoxicated and the wife to have to drive herself to the hospital. Especially in Louisiana.

You and your wife were out all night partying two weeks before your baby was due?

Is that odd? We went to a baseball game then hung out at the bar with friends afterwards.

I don't know. I guess not, as long as your wife was sobre.
