$.50 for the sandwich, $8.00 service fee to use the best gas station bathrooms around!

Went by to check out the hype that buc-ees has gotten on this board and I had sticker shock at the $8.50 chopped brisket sandwich. I bought one anyway just to try it, and it was okay. Just okay. Maybe worth about half of that price.

I don't get what all the hype is about. Now I will go there if they have the cheapest price on fuel, but beyond that, I am at a bit of a loss as to why it is so beloved.

Typical material mentality...there is NO way anyone would stop at Buccess for gas and a drink more than once. It is the typical "I gotta have it mind set"...why not just go to WalMart and the Marathon station? They have more choices and it won't take any longer to get in and out.

I'm glad to know this. I appreciate how they undercut the competition on gas prices, but I guess that is a loss leader and they make most of their money on selling food items and random trinkets.

Most of the time you will spend more time getting in and out of the parking lot than the dime you save per gallon is worth...when you consider your 40 gallon tank is $4 cheaper. I understand families stopping on vacation...it is a sight to behold for certain, almost a destination and at least a destination stop on the way to a destination...but from a practical POV it is more trouble than its worth.

They also have seriously cheap Ice. Fueling and icing down an offshore boat may be worth the effort....outside of that it is more trouble than its worth...

frick it. I'll say it.

Their brisket sandwiches aren't that good.

I will go even further...everything they sell is over rated. For a gas station its good...but for the amount of time it takes to get in and out it ain't nothing to write home about. WalMarts and Marathons have more choice, better prices and take about as long....and personally I avoid walmart like the plague...

I wouldn't call it just a gas station, that's a bit of a stretch. It's really has much more than a gas station offers when it comes to merchandise inside.

It's becoming obvious that AwgustaDawg must have been kicked out at Buc-ees at some point.

do they wash black people's feet at bucees?

I don't know, but in 2023, they probably would.

They are #1 in #2.

Probably should have been LOL. I just don't get it. My family and I stopped at the one in Daytona last year and I swore I would never do it again for the same reasons I will never go to Disney World again, avoid WalMart and will only go on a cruise under duress and then only once every 5 years or so...I avoid crowds of people who think spending money to buy memories is a legit way to acquire memories. I have been to the Buccees in New Braunfels many times, the one at the speedway in Dallas and a small one in Alvin several times...and I just do not get the appeal. The one outside Daytona is a MESS. Each to their own and all but it ain't for me...

sone things just cost money. My memories from Pebble Beach will be there a lifetime. The public course here, not so much. They both have a price tag

I don’t get how buying lunch and a tank of gas at a clean store equates to Disney World or buying memories or how DW and Walmart are mentioned together

The bathrooms are clean, no doubt, but is that really that important LOL? I have been using public bathrooms for 58 years and have never looked forward to doing so and have not, as far as I know, ever caught a disease in one...I know that a lot of people do all manner of things in public bathrooms other than the obvious intent...all the furor over the clothing worn by individuals in a public bathroom speaks volumes about the shennaniganes many get up to in such places...but if you ain't doing anything more than answering the call of nature there is little risk in even the nastiest public restroom....

Its pretty fricking ridiculous to me as well. I know people that will almost go out of their way to stop at one because they have to and to take a picture with the beaver. When I go on a road trip I am trying to get to my destination and if I stop I want it to be as quick as possible. I am not trying to sit at gas station for 30 minutes to hang out.

In Louisiana where we have Racetrac's I think it's a fair comparison as the best option but from Slidell to Panama City it's either Buc-ees or Loves and it's an absolute no brainer.

It's (Foley Beach Express) a little less than 2 hours drive from the La state line so it's a natural stopping / break / rest/ stretch / snack distance and if it's not there the options are slim. It gets alot of love from La residents because of what else is out there along that I-10 corridor to the gulf coast beaches, same with The Shed for lunch.

While it's not an in and out type place and takes typically longer than say a stop ay Murphy / Wal Mart when you look at everything they offer and the appeal to traveling families it's really not that much of a hassle. Clean bathrooms, good prepared food, good customer service, hot and fresh coffee, decent cold beer selection, tons of packed snack goods, quirky trinkets / shopping made popular at places like Cracker Barell and when compared to what else is available along that stretch of drive it really is the best option alot of the times.
