Pretty neat, here are some I thought were cool....
I feel as if though Kenner has lost its charm over the years and is definitely not what it once was. The Esplanade mall is a perfect example. I remember it in its heyday when both the bottom and top floors were booming with business and it was Lakeside's daddy. Now, it's pretty much just a Goodwill

Original caption for this 1965 photo: "Setting the first boat into the lake at the new four-lane launching ramp on the Jefferson Parish lakefront at Williams Boulevard is Sidney J. Golay of Kenner. The ramp was dedicated Sunday afternoon with U.S. Representative Hale Boggs making the principal address at the ceremony."

Original caption for this 1968 photo: "The ribbon is clipped, and another link of Interstate 10 highway, is opened in ceremonies at Kenner this morning. The new section is a 1.5 mile segment, and the overpass across Veterans highway, which was also opened in ceremonies at Kenner this morning. The new section insure an uninterrupted traffic flow between Williams boulevard in Kenner and downtown New Orleans. Original caption for this 1985 photo: "Simple furnishings await those with an appetite in La Terrasse. The Esplanade shopping mall, which opened last month at 1401 W. Esplanade Ave. in Kenner, is rightly described by its developers in superlative terms. Not only is it the newest shopping mall in the New Orleans area, but --after more retail space is added, bringing the total to 1.2 million square feet -- it also will be the largest. The Esplanade also is the most attractively designed development of its kind in this area, at least on the inside. "Designed by architects RTKL Associates Inc. of Baltimore, the mall is intended to resemble 'the market streets of the French Quarter and the shady courtyards and galleries of the Garden District.'"

That car at the boat launch looks photoshopped.

quote:Agree. It is a shame how overrun it has become with undesirables. Also, management has allowed the quality of tenants to deteriorate over the years. The new owners do not appear to be doing anything but allowing leases to term out in order to sell or demolish the mall. I do not see a future.

Used to drive from the Northshore to go to the Dillard’s Men’s store. Lakeside was always an afterthought. Even well into the 90s.
