I don't think anyone is suggesting that the warm weather is just going to make this go away. But hot weather may make it harder for the virus to live on surfaces, etc, and the spread may slow.
I'm no expert but have seen people taking both sides of this. It would be good to know if there is any truth to this.

To be fair the highs in the big coastal cities in Australia such as Melbourne and Sydney, where the virus is rising, are only in the low to mid 70’s.
It’s already above that here. Think the hope is when. Start getting to upper 80’s, low 90’s and humid it’ll really get to this thing

SARS did fine in Africa when it was 105 degrees. May or may but matter

25 here. Had a bigass avalanche on Thane Rd this morning.
Luckily I live across the channel.

Lol. This is not true at all.

Other strains of coronavirus don't like warm temps. Also all viruses don't spread as easily in warm/humid weather.
If this virus survives through summer temperatures, unlike most others, it is significantly outside of the norms.

So your balls just disappear for half the year

There's no reason to believe it's not

Nah, only if you're soft.

Where's the data to support your assertion that this novel coronavirus is seasonal?
I will wait.
I will wait.

Theres zero reason to assume temperature kills this.
Why's it showing so little proliferation in warmer regions?

Lol. This is not true at all.
Experiments have been done, mainly on influenza, which clearly shows that colder, drier climates result in easier spread.
Warmer, more humid climates result in significantly decreased spread.
There are other factors at play in the winter, such as less sunlight exposure and thus less vitamin D, resulting in a weakened immune system, and remaining in enclosed spaces, resulting in prolonged exposure.
But the data clearly shows that higher temperatures and higher humidity does, in fact, impact viral spread.
Scruffy’s prediction is that this will occur in the coming weeks.

Neither one of you can prove your assertion.

Singapore is equatorial, it is 90 degrees there today.
Singapore has confirmed cases, friend.

There is no reason to believe this is seasonal or susceptible to temperature variation.
We haven’t even gone through a season yet.
It is impossible to prove at this time, but there already theories.
This is from Bloomberg News:
quote:
A few researchers have prepared analyses on the subject, but none have been yet been published in scholarly journals, which require papers to be vetted by experts working in the same field. A group of U.S. and Iranian researchers concluded that the places Covid-19 infection has mostly taken hold so far -- such as Wuhan in central China, Milan and Seattle -- share similarly mild humidity and temperatures ranging from about 5 to 11 degrees Celsius (41 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter. In hotter, more humid places like Bangkok the virus has mainly been seen in people who brought it in from outside, and has not spread quickly through the community, the researchers said. However, they said predictions should be regarded with “extreme caution.”

Um yes it is. There are 100 of studies on it. The humidity keeps the virus droplets from drifting as far and the heat and sun kill the virus faster when it attaches to surfaces
Also it has to do with the warmer climate allows people to be outside more and not in each other's personal space as much

You and I know that influenza is structurally different from coronaviridae. Even various coronaviridae are structurally distinct from one another. Seasonal flu data have no bearing on this.
And you are extremely wrong about viral transmission in hot/humid climes. I can name several, and you can too.
