There would have to be something truly horrific going on up top to get me to step into a buried school bus, that does not seem like it would be safe for very long

A couple of years ago, a big and nasty tornado (one of many) went over north Alabama. Took out a bunch of trailers that belonged to an extended family. They all survived, because one of them had built a tornado shelter out of a school bus, not even buried, but covered with several feet of compacted dirt. and a big a** security door. It didn't have to last forever, but it lasted long enough.
It was impressive enough that it got coverage up here in east Tennessee.

I find it pretty intriguing and admire the amount of work and commitment it took to accomplish it. No matter his mindset, what he has done is pretty dang incredible.
To each his own. He didnt do it because he means anyone harm so i say let him be to complete his vision.

I've seen outfits selling pre made bunkers made out of culvert tubes for big money.
