Ahh ok, thanks for the clarification. What a ripoff.
Rooms to Go does something weird like that too. When we first moved into our house they had a table I liked that was like $400 or something like that. Their salesperson was totally dumbfounded when I wanted to pay cash for it. I took that as a sign and went elsewhere.

No doubt but it's funny to me to see people that took tons of money turn around and ask to not have to pay it back.
I don't think it is funny at all because we (if you actually are one of the few of us that pay taxes) are going to get left holding the bag for this student loan mess.

The Poors always go for the $0 down scheme, it's hilarious
They think they're winning and the finance company is all the way to the bank.

You can live a stress free and comfortable life being patient and secure in your own skin to wait to buy things that you want. Everything that I own is paid off. frick a bank or some bullshite company holding power or claim over any of my property.

What's really weird is some people with lots of loans pay lots of taxes.

Serious O-T logic right there.

While it's true that people voluntarily make these terrible deals, it's also true that many of them have no clue about finance or interest rates and that the lender has a severe knowledge advantage.
As for student loans, Obama tried to cap the tuition at these "career colleges" to an amount equal to the first year salary (if they participate in the subsidized federal student loan program); not surprisingly the knives came out. Gotta protect U of Phoenix' corporate welfare scheme.

By law don't they have to be given the equivalent of an amortization schedule so it's all in black and white?
If so, it's not that hard to realize you are paying 4 times what the phone is worth.

yea, and that would be fine as long as it is clear, up front, and verbally explained. And it probably is supposed to be that way, although I doubt it is.
But I do support usury laws. Society ends up paying the price if these deals are too ridiculous.

It's pretty basic math

Exactly.
What they're doing isn't a secret. If people agree to it, its just a victory for capitalism.

No, dumbasses pay the price and businesses win.
They are very clear about what you're paying and what you're getting.
If they lied or hid something, that should be against the law.

I'm surprised they even tell you on the ad the total amount if making payments. Why would they do the math for you? Why not just say "Same as cash $1,999 or 166 worry-free payments of $29.99."
