A 77-year-old prison escapee who had been on the run for nearly half a century was captured this week in New Mexico, the FBI said.

The retired police officer who Luis Archuleta was convicted of shooting in the stomach in 1971 said Thursday he tracked down Archuleta after receiving a telephone tip this summer.

"I’m reveling in the fact that I got him," former Denver police Officer Daril Cinquanta told NBC affiliate KUSA in Denver.

So, he is gonna go to jail for all of like a few years before his health gets the best of him?

At 50 years, it’s time to just let it go.

Don’t think attempted murder has a statute of limitations. Nor should it imo. I think him spending his remaining years in a prison cell is completely deserved.

If someone shot me in the stomach with the intent to kill me, I sure as hell wouldn't "just let it go". I could maybe let go of anger but I sure as hell wouldn't just let it go.

Lol what a bitch comment. You mean if a dude shot you in the torso you’d just let it go?

Good for the old war horse for tracking down this punk and putting his arse where he belongs.

Dude probably just didnt give a shite anymore

You cant catch him in 50 fricking years and then act like you broke the case wide open... nice police work

Now taxpayers get to fund the end of life care for someone we could have forgotten about

Yes there is a cost analysis that should be made in these situations
