Alabama has not upgraded penalties for cockfighting in 127 years, with the maximum punishment set at $50 for those caught cockfighting.

Had a client that fought and he transported them in little wooden suit cases. When his house flooded it got both of his prize birds, poor guy cried while telling me about his birds that drowned.

Yes many times. Grew up in Harlan County KY in the 70s and 80s. My grade school mascot was the Gamecocks! I have an uncle in his 70s that has won many a trophy fighting cocks. It was big in Appalachia at that time. I hear it still goes on today.

I'm a diehard outdoorsman and not much makes my stomach weak but I was invited and went to one while I was in college just outside of Sunset, la and I didn't make it through the first fight. I went sat in the car until it ended.

If they use the losers as dinner, then how is cock-fighting any less humane than the way our food chickens are treated? At least they’re given a chance to live longer and you might make a couple of bucks off of it and have a tamale or two.
