My personal rule: Never own a pet I can't physically beat.
I have been attacked twice in my life by dogs, both happen to be German Shepherds. Both attacks were unprovoked.

Pits and pit mixes are estimated to be over 5 million. They're also some of the most abused breed. People banning pits are no different than any other person looking to ban other breeds they deem "dangerous" just like the craze for BSL against shepherds, Rottweilers, Bull mastiffs and so forth in previous decades.

What reason is it too allow this breed to keep existing?
There is nothing that this breed does that cannot be performed by another breed.
If this was any other product it would be discontinued for safety reasons.
It is time to spay and neuter this breed into extinction.

No, but they could. It is also very likely that a Doberman, rottweiler, or many other breeds would in this sort of instance. I'm not condoning any of what happened, but I also don't let my 8 year old play outside without supervision. Sometimes it may be that someone has a fenced in yard with not so friendly dogs as a security measure to keep others out.

What if he was going over to play with a kid who lived there? What if he was a relative? The fact the dogs killed him only indicates the dogs killed him.

Could have been the kids caretaker who was watching him enter the yard to go somewhere he usually went. It’s not illogical, there is not enough info for it to be logical or illogical. All I’m saying is people are jumping to conclusions without much info.

First thing that went through my head was that they are blaming the dog but the kid was in their yard. It is awful to lose a kid I'm sure but where were the parents to watch the kid?
