The world is shitty enough. Let your fricking kids think there is SOME magic for the first few years of it's life. I hate miserable fricks like this.

Thank you.

I can’t stand a-hole parents who think they are better because the frick up Christmas for their kids and expect you to do the same for yours.

Should you also tell your kid that you and everyone they know will eventually die?

If they ask, sure. This would of course require they have an understanding of death. But it could allow for some insightful and meaningful discussions about the value of human life.

Raising kids well has zero to do with weather or kit you let them have the magic of believing in Santa.

"Why did you and mommy get a divorce." - 6 year old

"Because you are a financial and emotion burden that created extra strain and a tipping point in our ability to function as a couple." - honest answer

Look i somewhat understand the OP because i have a daughter about to turn 3, and i hate this whole santa ordeal. My family is forcing me to tell a lie to my child, that one day will break her heart when she learns the truth that I've been lying to her for years! Now how does that say unconditional love? Hi for the first few years of your life im going to perpetuate a lie to you so i could watch your reaction for my amusement? That is the true christmas magic of santa!

Add to that, "and Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy aren't real. Suck it up buttercup." That would make that blogger have a quivering orgasm.

This is where you went wrong. Not "lying" to her.

No. Your 3, 4, 5, 6, etc, year old does not have the emotional maturity to think you betrayed them. They move the frick on. In fact, most kids eventually figure it out. Let them go down that road of critical thinking. Don't overthink it.

I think these studies about “corporeal punishment ACTUALLY doesn’t do what you think it does” like the “study” about doing nice things for nothing in return in the OP are complete horse shite.

6 year olds can just google the truth about Santa anyway. What’s the point in keeping up this charade?

Yea, it probably won't do that.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. At 44 with a two month old, it's going to be interesting for this old man to interact with younger parents etc. I know both sets or grandparents will support our decision regardless.

We always sort of tongue-in-cheek believed in Santa. I recall being about 5-6 and figuring it out and pretty much telling my little brother not much later. It was a good middle ground. The wink-wink, yeah Santa is real, method.

Please add that all the cartoons and books about the sweet pigs and rabbits are all lies. If you allow the child to eat meat tell the about the dead cows, pigs and chicken that die for them. All kids shows are BS. All the songs they learn are also lies.
Finally take them to a graveyard and tell them this is where they will be in the end.
