We need to commission a multi-billion dollar study on our options that will be due in October. Then delayed weeks...

3I/ATLAS will reach approximately 167 million miles (270 million km) from Earth on Dec. 19, and at no point will it pose a threat. At perihelion, it will be traveling at around 42 miles (68 km) per second/second or about 152,000 miles (245,000 km) per hour.

a potentially hostile, 7-mile-long alien spacecraft may be headed toward Earth

I read about that a few days ago. One controversial scientist believes it's a hostile alien ship, all the others believe it's a massive asteroid.
Pick your poison, I guess.

So even if it is aliens they either have no clue we exist or are so far superior that we are of no interest. Sounds about right.

It's not aliens.
I think it's insane to entertain the thought that the earth has been around for 4.5 Billion years, humans have existed for 300k years, yet aliens are going to visit during our 80-100 year life.
It's definitely possible, and I think they're out there, but this generation of humans is not anymore special than the generation 15000 years ago. If aliens had the capability to come here, the odds that they choose to do it now are infinitesimal.

Damn man you are going to cause the snowflakes to kill over with the vapors....you can't just waltz in here and sling about the truth like you own it, they love to wallow in misery while sitting in the AC with a clean source of drinking water the flip of a tap away and a mechanism that cleans the shite out of their house with the push of another one....a gracious plenty of them claim they are scared to leave the house without a gun and you come waltzing in here talking about the best of times, also known as reality, to 'em. Have some empathy....they suffer from the mental illness of irrational fears, bless their hearts....

How does one "study" a 7-mile long space ship full of aliens?
Carefully.

Logically it is impossible that there is not life elsewhere given the vastness of the known universe. Why we are convinced that other life forms will be advanced and bent on destruction is a throwback to human ignorance and fear. It may be that aliens are dumber than a sack of rocks and even on the off chance they somehow master space travel they could just be damned lucky to have done so....

I think there is life out there for sure.
I think it's silly to believe that we got lucky enough to live in the time where aliens visit this planet. 100 years out of 4.5 Billion, and we got lucky? Maybe. Very unlikely.
For all we know, human existence is a cycle that lasts 500k years, and we are just one more iteration of advanced species on this planet that will eventually go extinct. Maybe our current place in the cycle isn't even interesting to any being that's observed us.

We are too busy hating and killing one another to notice.
If were the aliens, I would land at the Intergalactic Buc-ee’s for some space jerky, a clean alien toilet experience… and sit this one out.
