My favorite Andre the Giant story is that he was too large to use traditional toilets. So when he stayed at a hotel, he put newspaper in the tub and shite in the tub.

I’m sure was could have been over 7 feet in his early 20’s before the acromegaly became more severe

But yeah the stats are padded

Wilt was 7’2 and Andre was taller than him, so doubters can suck a fart.

Jake the Snake has a good interview on Joe Rogan's podcast. His stories about Andre are pretty crazy.

Andre was my hero as a kid, and I’ve studied his life extensively. For my 8th birthday I attended my first live wrestling event, which featured Andre vs. Blackjack Mulligan in the main event.

When Andre first started, he only weighed about 375. He was extremely agile and could even throw dropkicks. He was offered a tryout by Redskins coach George Allen, but turned it down, as he had no experience playing American football and was maki g more money wrestling than he would have made in the NFL at that time.

Andre’s height was indeed exaggerated. He was about 7 feet at his top height.

Interesting that you posted this today because i just watched a documentary about people with acromegaly last night and i learned there are two types. Some are indeed born that way, with the tumor already there messing with the pituitary gland.

But then i learned there is another type that starts AFTER you have finished growing normally and are an adult. These poor souls are totally normal until sometime in adulthood the tumor kicks in. Even their noses and lips get enlarged. It is rather disfiguring.

The late tanya angus is a perfect example of this. She was perfectly normal and pretty girl until her 20s. She went from 5 ft 8 to almost 7 feet tall. Her ring size was a 20.

The documentary i watched. Its very interesting LINK

Billy Crystal said while they were filming the Princess Bride that he drank so much he passed out on the hotel floor, and they couldn't move him.

He was in a lot of pain at this point of his career and filming that movie

The movie crew had to rely on other support for the scene where he’s holding the princess

Pretty sure the latest biodoc on him said he was roughy 7ft but appeared shorter as he aged due to a severely curved spine.

Would love to know if the stories about his ability to drink are true.

There is a good documentary about him on one of the streaming services I think. Been a couple of years. He was able to consume a lot of alcohol due to sheer size. Sad story. Had a terrible disease that caused him much pain.

Only folks that might come close pound for pound are the late Oliver Reed and company.

On the day Reed died, according to witnesses, he drank eight pints of German lager, a dozen shots of rum, half a bottle of whiskey and a few shots of Hennessy cognac in a drinking match against a group of sailors on shore leave from the H.M.S. Cumberland.
