Extra licensing, security, armed transport.
You think pharmacies or pharmaceutical transport trucks don't have all of these as well? shite, the pill manufacturer transportation trucks alone have more security than any dispensary I've ever been in.
The end user experience is the same in both situations, you pay, get your shite and walk out happy

We could pay for so many state projects just with the tax dollars from neighboring states, and tourism to NO.
To be fair, the leadership in LA would simply line their pockets with that new tax money and none of those projects would ever see the light of day
Also even if you got it to the proposition stage, there’s a huge population of old dumb people who would shoot it down

Where did our new friends go?
They haven't been back to their pot thread.

It disgusts me how much money Louisiana is missing out by not legalizing it. I'm convinced we could bring in $100 million from Texas alone.

#8 in mature markets like CA and CO the local growers will sell some inventory for cash "off the books" to the grey market to avoid taxes.
The grey market will sell to unlicensed delivery services and unlicensed sellers (aka local pot dealers) so a huge section of the industry are buying and selling un-taxed.
So the tax revenue numbers aren't accurate, there is far more money in the weed game than is being reported.

True, but the same can be said for any business sector with a lot of cash transactions. Your neighborhood bagel shop is likely reporting less income (and not paying taxes on that income) than they are actually making.

No, it would need to be indoor grown.

Not a greenhouse. It's too damn hot in LA.
Indoor grow allows you to control the atmosphere and grow year round.

Obviously not as cheap as an outdoor operation
Clearly but if you grow outdoors you get 1 crop and you don't control anything.
Indoor all day everyday in LA.

LSU and Southern are the only two places where medical marijuana will be grown LEGALLY to supply the dispensaries. I don't know about Southern, but I know LSU has an indoor operation. Also, it will not employ any students, which is probably smart because you'd have to go all Escobar on them for stealing the product.
It's easier to go all Escobar on outisders.

of course, what I was getting at is if you look at the massive tax receipts being reported, the real industry (legal and grey markets) numbers are way bigger than the reports
And that isnt taking into account the illegal Mexican weed (black market) coming in to CA, I am only talking about legal CA growers feeding the grey market

It's either legal or part of the black market. There's no in between.

LSU is currently building an indoor grow location right off Highland Road in south Baton Rouge. About a mile from Blue Bayou
