I feel like a lot of Louisiana is not even that aware of this culture and music
I've definitely become Americanized. Living in Lafayette the last several years has started to bring me back a bit though. I still don't know names of Cajun bands, but I hear the music a lot more frequently now. That being said, the Cajun music my grandparents listened to is still very difficult for me to get into.

The only ones likely to be sold on Louisiana from a 60 Minutes advert would most likely be people from blue states. No thanks.

Those delta towns along the Mississippi river are just as unique in their own right. Let the california refugees move to Ferriday, Tallulah, and Lake Providence.
Good thing they can't get to Haile from there.

I guess swamps, nasty weather, and culture aren't bland so technically true.

I believe the literal opposite.
This state has experienced so much brain drain and population loss that it NEEDS people to move here.

A few years ago there was another thread basically crapping all over New Orleans and Louisiana. As I was attempting to defend my hometown, someone called folks doing just that as living in a "cesspool of rationalization", which I found hilarious.
Thus leading to my location in the sig to the left.

Gotta love Zydeco and Cajun music both.....The Savoys are about as accomplished musicians and musicians get, the only issue is it is a genre that not many people know. Its a shame because it is fricking fantastic music, every bit as good as rock, country, blues, hip-hop...name it and the musicians that are accomplished in coonass music are as good as any....
And there is no doubt that Southern Louisiana is not homogenized like most of the US. Most of the US if you dropped magically out of thin air you would not know where you were....anywhere from Baton Rouge to Orange Texas and south of I-10 you would certainly know where you were or you'd at least know almost immediately it was different...and mostly in a good way. I get the feeling that people from Louisiana love to hate their state but secretly are not happy away from it....and its understandable...for all its warts and problems and issues it is a fantastic place....

well 7 escaped inmates, plantation burning to the ground and a terrorist attack on NYE will certainly liven things up!
Hell those kinds of things are a big part of the charm LOL...

Fantasy Louisiana vs. real life Louisiana.

What was fantasy about that? It was a story about music and cajun culture in and around SW Louisiana, mainly Eunice. The OP's title is a little misleading. There was nothing in the story about moving to Louisiana. But there is nothing fantasy about rural SW Louisiana being totally opposite from a bland cookie cutter suburban or urban existence.

Louisiana culture is so great that inmates will bust out of jail because they miss it so much.

You guys don't get to do that. Louisiana's population has been declining so you should actually want people to move there.
We want refugees from Blue States, not Yankees.

Don’t think you are. Southern La loses population each year.

I'd rather lose population than become Colorado or one of Carolinas where Yankees are invading.
