damn... I wish we had technology where we could communicate through a device, maybe if everyone had someone type of ten digit numeric identifier... you should try and invent that. You know soo this won't happen again.

Cops have the worst fricking handwriting.

OP, you didn’t get a letter in the mail about the ticket, let alone having to take one of those courses?

No need. The supervisor/chief ended up understanding in the end. At first said no way it is a five - and then called someone over and said he could definitely see how it's a five.

Anyways - a relatively cheap lesson.

Think I'm still just ticked at the original officer who threatened over and over to give a ticket for not having registration papers when rental car companies don't provide you those.

No. It was in Rapides Parish. Not sure if they send those.

and wouldn't it be great to use that device to call the DA's office to see if you can get it reduced to a non-moving violation and send in a check and avoid the whole situation?

Sure, if you don't look closely. It's super large and goes over the lines above under "nc" and below but you can see the curve on top and bottom. It's clearly a 3.

Tickets are what, like 7" x 3". Normally someone is gonna hold it a foot or more from there face.

I sent an email about the ticket in general on May 21st and received no response. I did call today once I saw the Failure to Appear charge. I had no reason to call before because I never thought it was a "3".

Boyce. I take the yes sir/no sir respectful approach with police and let the chips fall where they may. Some great officers out there - and some not so great officers.

In the end, whomever I spoke to at the office ended up being nice about it and I can't complain. Wanted to do a sanity check. Seems like it's 60/40 in favor of a "3" which doesn't make me feel bad.

the only way you could argue it's a five is if you couldn't see it carry into the above box

Good question. Ticketed in early February. I've received two tickets in the past in different places. They usually take about ~two weeks to appear and court date is usually 2-3 months after. So 5/27 didn't seem like a stretch to me.
