my great grandfather told me about this earthquake. He described it as a thundering WHIP and then a Nenana

Amazing how this drained water from South Louisiana waterways.

My dad happened to be at their camp at the time and has retold the stories of the guys who were out there.

My grandfather was the first on the scene at the naval station on one of the islands. It was hit with a 130' tsunami wave. All 6 men were gone.



He had some first hand photos. This is from the internet but is where the station was
