Tell him fine but you'll be doing 50% less work

I got laid off last month and had a few interviews that just got canceled. Start calling all your bill companies and they will work with you. Good luck to you and your family.

But hey, it’s ok for your family to be homeless or end up on the public dole so we can stretch out the timeline of this illness that will be mild for most of us. We shouldn’t even consider protecting only the most vulnerable so we don’t trash our society.

Will you be working less?
Is your business taking a 50% hit?
If not just take the guaranteed FMLA at 66% pay and stay at home.

If he actually shows you the books and it’s as bad as he’s projecting, tell him you’ll gladly accept a 50% cut (while you look for another job)

Most likely. Is he taking a pay cut also?

Sounds like your company lives paycheck to paycheck

Tell your boss if he thinks you’re going to accept a 50% pay cut just so you can keep your job then he is absolutely right...

A lot of people would really surprised to see what low margins a lot of industries operate under and how tight cash flow can get in a hurry.
And It’s not just about profit, it’s about near term cash flow.

Take it and look for another job in the meantime

I know the company has been making money but just has a lot of projects canceled or put on hold indefinitely. They always talk about taking the good with the bad when your salary but when you are always working 70+ hours a week a take one week a year for vacation then this happens... it's more like taking the bad with the worse. I have sent them a response pleading my case that my workload will not be affected as much as others. Hopefully they will have a positive response in the morning or I guess I will start looking for other options.

If you are on salary and in management and you can’t go a month on a 50% cut you are terrible at managing you money

We're going to the Gold Standard. That's why.

Baw, I just got told to stay home the rest of the month. I sell really expensive medical equipment that requires in person meetings, ain’t nobody spending that money over the phone. Hello 100% paycut!

Time to check your boss’s knuckles.

Depends what management makes. 400k? Sure. 100k? I am looking to bounce.
