Your parenting decisions are highly questionable.
Good luck to your kids.

This ( the second part) pretty much says describes the issue with the breed.

People who pick dogs as status symbols are weak and have or like little dicks, which bear some correlation to their even smaller brains.
People who prefer, defend, and rationalize ownership of 'pit-bull-like' dogs are of an even lesser ilk.
Living in a state where people fight for the right to ride motorcycles without a helmet provides significant perspective on this type of self-centered moron.

Have had a pit bull since my kids were small. Never growled, never bitten. Best dog we have ever had. All in how you raise them.
Let's just ignore statistical evidence, that always works out well.

sorry, but that's bullshite. This one breed accounts for the vast majority of fatal dog attacks
I think it's more due to the fact that trashy people are more likely to pursue ownership of these dogs
And they're capable of being lethal. I don't think it's really a temperament thing. But it doesn't need to be since they're more capable than other dogs of being lethal if they do go nuts.

They're almost always great dogs to work with in the office - only had a few actually show aggression toward me. But, I'll never own one

The ignorant arse people walking these harmless family pets around at parades and encouraging children to come pet them astound me. If their dog locked on to one of the children it would easily rip a drumstick off before anyone could do anything about it. Naturally they would claim it was the child's fault.

Now that's crazy. I wouldn't ever take my dog to events with large crowds of people. People walk up to my dog when we're at the pet store and try to pet him completely ignoring his body language and me telling them to not try to pet him. Kids and the elderly are the worst offenders

What peer-reviewed studies are cited here to support such anti-pit bull consensus?
This is where I shake my head at pit bull defenders. If you actually think you need a peer reviewed study to understand that pit bulls are a the dog most likely to kill a human then there is no point discussing it.
1) pit bulls kill more humans than all other dogs combined
2) good pit bulls apparently snap and kill even if they've never done that before. "Sweetest dog ever, don't know what happened".
3) when one escapes it's owner it doesn't have it's buffer to keep the rage contained - reverts to kill mode
Why is a peer reviewed study needed for a pit bull when all the evidence says they are dangerous?
Sure, a pit bull behind a well built fence isn't much of a danger and one on a leash that has a responsible owner isn't much of a danger if that owner is strong enough to contain a potential "snap". The risk is just too great. No one should die by pit bull mauling. There's too much evidence of the danger that this breed presents to the public.
LOL at expecting all owners to behave as some of the pit bull defenders in here say they behave.
Pit bulls are trashy and pit bull owners by in large are trashy.
If there is a pit bull loose and in your yard, KILL IT.

That's the problem. The owner isn't strong enough to contain a "snap". Ever seen any person rip a tire to shreds? I don't care how strong you think you are, a pit bull will frick you up. It will then revert right back to "family pet mode" within a few minutes and go about it's merry way while you bleed out.

I keep everyone away from our dogs. all of them. even wifes yorkies. I just don't trust people, period.
a big problem is the people that own them, the people that think they know about them, and misidentifying them. hell, I had plenty people call my old boxer a pit

When you take the emotional attachment people have towards these dogs, set it aside and look at the issue from strictly a logical standpoint based on facts, you have to face these three things.
1. Pits can be great pets and a loving part of the family.
2. Pits can snap at any time and attack people.
3. Unlike most other breeds of dogs, a pit attack usually at best leaves massive wounds requiring reconstructive surgery or at worst, kills the victim.
The question you have to ask yourself about the pit bull is this: Is having #1 worth risking #2 & #3?

Is that too hard to understand?
No, it's besides the point. Cats are domesticated but that doesn't mean they don't have instincts. They still know how to hunt, even though they've never been taught it. They know how to land on their feet when dropped. Pits were bred to be killers. You can't ignore the overwhelming evidence that killing, fighting, etc is part of who they are.

So can lions and tigers. They're just big cats.

How easy of a call is this? Especially if you have children. It's a simple matter of - Are you willing to put your children at risk of being maimed or killed by an animal you willingly allow to live in your home? How fricked up do you have to be to place your children in that circumstance?

poor kids. Hope it doesn't take one of your children being hurt to realize the breed is trash and it makes zero sense to own one

Such a sad story. Unless you're some kind of African warlord, there's no reason to own a pitbull. Especially if they are ever going to be close to a child.
