If you want a migraine head over to r/bamaology and you can kind of piece together what happened. Two “gangs” (420 and TSMG) have beef. This was 420 retaliating against TSMG for killing two of theirs.

The fact that the current street price for a Glock switch is $100 makes this shite even worse. The real answer to most of this is an extremely heavy handed police force and judicial system, but what is more realistic is that our mayor will release a Spotify playlist to bring everyone together.

r/bamaology is an interesting read. Claims gang retaliation of a Gate City/Avondale gang "420" with a "getback" on Enlsey/Pratt City gang "tsmg". Talk of a war thats been going on for years and more violence expected tonight.

Sounds like Baton Rouge.

The answer has been proposed but the mayor declined. The Governor offered what Louisiana Governor offered. State police.
That’s working in New Orleans and it’d work in birmingham.

Gate City used to be a no go zone for Bham cops after dark.

Place is hell like New Hamsterdam on The Wire.

The answer is just to lock violent criminals away for long periods of time. Shoot someone not in a self defense situation - 20 years. 2nd offense - life.

Armed robbery - 20 years. 2nd offense - 50 years.

Build more prisons. There are plenty of people walking free that shouldn't be.

Southside used to be a cool place to hang out.

I used to stay in 5 Points for SEC Media Days.

There was this old hotel down there, totally refurbished, great place. I automatically renewed every year and they gave me the suite at a great price because I mentioned them in my daily write-ups.

It's a shame that the area has gone downhill.

Avondale

It had to be white guilt hipsters that envisioned "Avondale"

A bunch of clueless white people with money walking around drinking craft beers just around the corner from Tom Brown Village and Woodlawn.

Upside Down Plaza was a dive bar that was close to that hotel. Those were good times and different world ago.

They have another plan, and you can't tell me it's not the brain child of a land developer because it's way too smart to come from a government official.

If you see something say something.

Nice slogan.

They want people to rat out violent criminals. In exchange, if they feel in danger of their lives for ratting someone out, HUD will relocate them and their entire family anywhere in the continental US and set them up elsewhere. Ghetto witness relocation program.

All I see, is 2,3,4 birds with one stone. A way to empty out the projects and bad neighborhoods and make them someone else's problem -- clearing the way for easy redevelopment.

Kind of genius really.

Plaza is still there. Still a good place to stop in for a drink if you're driving through the area.

Dude is tucked away on a cul de sac in Mountain Brook and spends a part of the year flying around to football stadiums. I bet Birmingham feels like Disney World.

That’s some nasty people and living right there. I can’t even imagine that lifestyle and why the mayor supports it.

I’ve played gigs at Black Market right there where this took place.

Gotta arrest the criminals first and the city police are not getting that done. The criminals know it and that’s why we see this escalation and repetition.

If they can bring in state police, get some of the known gang leaders arrested, they will see a slow down in crime. On the back end, the DA can deal with the charges and judges can deal with the punishments. Unfortunately, birmingham has a soft DA and the judges aren’t tough either.
It’s a bad criminal Justice system from the cops to the judges.
