As tends to be the case, we lose legends, and keep degenerates.

I'm curious, is it pretty standard now to get seize cell phones in any fatal crash? Not justifying what she did whatsoever, and it's super fricked up, rip to the victim, but I thought they only did that when there was like, implications of intent or what they suspect to be murder case. Unless she told the cops she was doing that and they just had to verify her story.

As Garth says "She never hit the brakes, and she was shiftin' gears"

quote:

When first responders arrived, Chao allegedly admitted fault for the crash.

quote:

Chao’s cell phone was seized as part of the investigation. At the scene, troopers did not observe brake marks on the road, which would have indicated that she attempted to slow down.

A warrant was obtained for Chao’s phone

How do you know that's her?

I searched FB for the name, and it showed nearly 100 people with the name Christine Chao in California alone.

There are more deaths on the highway now from distracted drivers than drunk drivers - I really wish the cops would start cracking down on it all across the country. I see it all day, every day, especially when I'm driving at night. Nearly everyone around me has cell phones playing videos on their dashes or on their hands.

Dunno, my guess it varies state to state.
I would hope its a default step in any serious accident investigation regardless of any injuries/fatalities.

It's now illegal to even have the device in hand while driving in my state. Although the number of drivers ignoring it is maddening.

Unless LE starts pulling them over and fining them, instead of waiting to pick up the body parts after the crash, it will not stop.

He doesn't.

I would imagine her online presence has been wiped since this crash happened months ago.

The dept that arrested her doesn't post booking photos
