If he wouldn't have said, "more popular than Jesus", he might still be alive, or lived much longer.

I'm not a Beatles fan, but I recognize their talent. Lennon was a loon, but a talented loon.

Everyone has their favorites. I like the beatles, I really like zeppelin, but I think Fleetwood mac is better than both.

I guess he wasn’t as popular as Jesus. One died 2000 years ago and is much more popular than Lennon or the Beatles

Up until about 1967 Lennon was the overall talent in terms of songwriting with a sizeable assist from McCartney. But Lennon dove a little too deep into drugs and it really affected his output and by 1968 McCartney was really hitting his stride.

This is absolutely ludicrous. Paul more than held up his side of that team. If anything Paul helped reign in John’s weird shite. But John also helped reign in Paul’s overly lovey “granny shite” too.

But saying Lennon was the overall talent while Paul only assisted us laughable.

Wasn’t that whole thing taken out of context though? I remember reading about it and John saying he was simply saying that that’s how popular they were in towers of worldwide stardom and attention. It wasn’t that they were better than Jesus or on the same level or whatever. Just that that was how insane the attention had gotten.

Paul is the living king of music. Not just rock.

He was commenting on the decline of religion's influence in the West - a claim that was & is, sadly, accurate (Will Durant had made a similar comment in the 1940s)

Meanwhile McCartney is in his fricking eighties rocking his dick out on tour three hours a night.

No disrespect to Lennon, but he would not be doing that today.

Marc David Chapman stated to police that's one of the reason he shot Lennon. That & the songs Imagine & God. It pissed him off JL didn't blv in God.

He was initially a big Beatles fan, until JL made those remarks.
