I spend a lot of time in and around Beaufort. I ain't sure that 43 monkeys running amuk would be noticeable....might even raise the area's respectability a little....

WTF are you even spewing bullshite about?

Beaufort is one of the most beautiful small towns in the entire country.

this happened in Covington in the late 90's from the monkey farm on Three Rivers Rd. I think they caught all but a couple of them.

I remember back in the early 80’s there was a animal research center on the north side of Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia. Someone broke in and released many of the monkeys that were caged. I don’t remember if any were infectious but it caused quite an alarm at the time.
Any of you old timers remember that?

Yes it is down the street from my office, I can hear them scream some days when I am outside.

There was also a 48 hours or something about the treatment of the animals there.

Fun fact:
Beaufort, NC is pronounced "Boh- fert"
Beaufort, SC is pronounced "Bew- fert"

Both coastal towns

You mean the Reston strain of Ebola when nobody else in the normal, average business park knew what was going on in that particular building?

That was also next to a playground and very near a daycare I believe!

And they built a school on top of it

I'm more confused as to why we the people are not asking more questions about what lab they broke out of and what they got going on over there and who owns the facility

Well that doesn’t sound ominous or anything.

Time to get the guns back out.

Also, no natural predators that I can think of here either. So if whatever they have doesn’t kill them we’ll have a shitload of monkeys all over the lowcountry.

If they were organized enough to escape, I say let them be.

A long time ago I was working for a CPA firm and we were auditing a research facility. I was a lowly staffer assigned to a few balance sheet accounts. Your typical cash bank recons, property and equipment, accounts payable, and prepaid/other assets type stuff. I remember picking a sample of transactions to test and one of them in the prepaids was an order for some research monkeys. They must have ordered some prior to year end that hadn’t arrived yet, so rather than it sitting in their inventory, the proper accounting treatment was prepaid monkeys. One of the strangest things I ever ran across doing audits.

Guess we're going to have to import pythons from the glades.
