So which one of you guys took advantage of the work cares act and withdrew the $100,000 out of your 401k, or who had to because of the tough times maybe?

I did last week once the balance regained back to pre corona levels.

Paid off all non mortage debt, purchased a lot of assets to build up a non work related revenue stream, and added funds to my brokerage to fulfill all of the options contracts purchased when the sky was falling and everyone expected this to last years.

So at this point I feel pretty good about sitting pretty if the market surges or if it crashes again in the hypothetical second wave.

(It was a loan, not a full withdrawal fwiw.)

If the market holds flat from last Friday I’m looking at a net worth increase of about 45%

A lot of coworkers who did it to pay off their credit cards only to buy sofas and TVs immediately after.

I’m sure this will result in anger in a few years on how the system is too unfairly stacked for the rich when they can’t retire.

For someone who lost their job and had no personal savings, I could see how they could take advantage of money they didn’t have easy access to before.. that’s why

Heck yeah, withdrew everything so that I could pay my mortgage off. Had enough left over to put in the pool and fence that the old lady wanted too and paid off my vehicles. That’ll teach them.
