Imagine if he’d have put that $350 into bitcoin back then.

I don't see the point. Bitcoin wouldn't come into existence for another 35 years.

My boss has an old Steve McQueen Daytona like that. He said his dad bought it on leather originally. The original strap is toast but the watch should still be worth 6 figures.

Is this one of the Rolex models they gave to the astronauts?

I think the astronauts wore Omega watches. Could be wrong though.

I'm doubting the "unworn" claim.

Trying to pick the sticker off probably cost him 100k.

But who out there will pay the $500k for it?

Plenty of people

A Grandmaster Chime went for $31MM in late 2019 and Paul Newman's Daytona went for nearly $18MM within the last couple of years.

I would have bet $500,000 that that chewbacca looking motherfricker with a camo headband didn't have a rolex.

Not just condition and rare, but he kept EVERYTHING by the looks of that display. Box, paperwork, receipt, cards. Al the shite that gets lost.

Closest I've come to going all 1950's and striking my wife was when she asked me to throw out our boxes for a Tag and my Sinn. "Don't tell me my business devil woman " from an Adam Sandler movie was all I could muster.

The deal on the Speedy Pro is that it was the first watch on the moon, and the company has deservedly capitalized on this fact with their marketing over the years. However, a very common favorite amongst space mission astronauts was also Rolex GMT master, which has also been worn on a moonwalk.

What’s significant about wearing a watch under a space suit?

Were these watches used for meaningful timekeeping, or just for marketing?
