Smoke your own brisket, on a Weber. It’s easy and turns out perfectly if you use the charcoal snake method and an ice chest.

$1.97/#? It's at least $4 on sale lately. Worth it though. Doing my own tastes better than most many BBQ places.
Albertsons has been doing choice briskets at $1.97/ lb about 3-4 times a year last couple of years

Its brisket for blacks. Is it because of black history month?

I can’t yell you the last time I went out to eat for BBQ. Prices have been absurd for years now.
BBQ was always cheap blue collar food when I was growing up. It’s nuts what’s happened to it.
In general, there’s been a sort of gentrification of “poor food” for years now.

Last time I stopped was 23 bucks. Trump has to do something to get the beef industry running again
You may have missed this:
Beef prices and the cattle shortage
quote:
The number of cattle in the U.S. is the lowest in nearly 75 years, and the shortage is forcing prices higher and higher. The recent drought put farmers and ranchers in a tough spot, and many of them sold a good chunk of their herds. “Those cows never reproduced, and now there’s a shortage,” said Charlie Emswiler, the owner of Wahoo Meat Market. “There’s just a flat-out shortage. It drove the prices way up.”
Combined with federal water and grazing restrictions imposed by the Joetato, the result is so many fewer cattle that Tyson is shutting down beef processing plants for lack of supply.
While Trump can and will reverse the water and grazing problems, he cant make bulls frick faster.

Same and same.

All this brisket talk is making me hungry.
I guess I’m going to have to get up early tomorrow and head to Snow’s in Lexington, Texas.
It’s been a couple of years. I just hope Miss Tootsie is still alive and cooking. Saturday is the only day you can get her bbq.

Last time I went to Terry Blacks for lunch a brisket sandwich was $22. That doesn’t include sides, drink, etc.
These classic places around Austin have become nothing but a tourist trap. Only people in line were yuppies you could tell that were there more for a selfie vs eating the food. Nobody there looked like they had to go back to work after the meal.

Went to Black’s last year, while down there to see a doctor. Atmosphere was good. Was not impressed much with the brisket. At least I use seasoning when I smoke them at home.

At Black's in Dallas it was $27.00 a pound last month. Crazy for a BBQ dinner to be $55.00
