That's funny because up until a couple years ago I never heard of FQF.

I'm only stating that there have been several years that the strawberry festival has had over 500k people attend over a three day time frame. The other guy is basically like no one goes to the SF they only go to FQF which can't be any further from the truth.

All these free festival attendance numbers use math that strains normal concepts of addition and subtraction. There is simply no way, as one poster said, 25% of the population of SE LA is going to Strawberry Fest and additionally another 25% is also going to FQF.

FQF at one point had people with clickers counting people who entered Jackson Square one day, then multiplied that by some factoral to get its attendance number.

Well.....I don't know what to tell you. It was around. It has been pulling in about 400,000 attendees for years. 100's of local artists.

They are both big.

It's been a long time since I have been to the strawberry festival. I was a kid, but I definitely recall enjoying it. With that said, I just looked at the music line-up. Yikes.

There's maybe 3 million people in a 100 mile radius of this event, maybe 3 million. New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houma, Northshore, McComb and Jackson. i'd say it's more like 2 million at most.

The New Orleans metro area (New Orleans,Jefferson) had 2013 population of 776,000.. Northshore (St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston) 482,000.. River Parishes (St. Charles, St. John, St. James) 120,000.. Baton Rouge 460,000.. Houma 111,000.

Thats 1,949,000 just in the surrounding area. Not including Mississippi. With people who do drive and fly in for this festival, and those from Mississippi, it is highly possibly for 300,000 to go to the Strawberry festival in a 3 day period.

You would think they could pull some better music guests, but every year it's a disappointment

I don't see how you helped your point.
I still dont' believe many people fly in or drive long distances to come to this festival. There aren't enough hotels to support a large amount of travelers, that's why i assume that the few that do travel far don't make up a large %.
and it's a fair full of carney's. Not like it's something so special that people from around the country want to come to it, like Mardi Gras.

Still, 2 million locals within an hour of it. Nothing you can say would convince me that even 10% attend this, much less 20-25% attend.
It's more likely that 2-5% of people attend at best.
And if this french quarter festival is the same weekend every year, there's no way they are getting 300K, just no way.

Think about how many people are on campus for a Bama game, over 100,000? Do you honestly think that there's as many people at this fesival on Saturday as there is at a Bama-LSU pregame?
Think about the amount of cars that are scattered all over campus for a tailgate. Does the area around the festival have the capabilities of parking that many cars?
I've been to the festival twice recently. You don't have to park 2 miles away from the festival like at LSU, nor do they have enormous parking lots filled with cars like at LSU. it's cars parked on streets everywhere.

It's a nice local festival, and yes it's crowded, but to think there's over 100,000 people a day out there is just retarded. I would bet there aren't 500,000 people our of the 2 million in the area that even know it exists, much less know when it is and actually attend it.
It's soccer season for kids, baseball is starting, LSU is playing, there's this festival in New Orleans. 100K for the weekend would be a good estimate to me.

Thats acurate depending on the year with weather and other factors. With the weather this weekend they will hit 300,000 easy.
